It's easy to forget this, but KYH is one of those "Student Celebrities" that you see so much of in anime. And I find in anime that a surefire way to win over a "Student Celebrity" is by being totally non-pretentious and basically not acting like an insane fanboy/fangirl around them (and honestly, this makes some sense to me - real life celebrities often grow tried of people swooning crazily over them, and tend to really appreciate the company of everyday people that treat them as another human being). So much of what caused Haru to win over KYH was his complete sincerity with her, and him treating her with genuine caring and respect (rather than overbearing fanboying).

It's probably true that KYH finds Haru's physical appearance cute - From KYH's perspective, he probably looks a bit like a big, fluffy, stuffed toy. I can see somebody going for that (especially in a culture that emphasizes cuteness as much as Japan's does).

But I doubt that's the main reason why KYH took a liking to Haru. I mean, if Haru looked like Taku, KYH would probably still love him for his gaming abilities and personality.
I entirely agree with you here, Triple R.
Thank you for stating it. ^^

Yep, I agree as well, and it's an interesting take on Kuro's feelings that she does find Haru's appearance appealing in its own way; I always figured that she simply disregards it rather than finding it attractive, but KYH finding him cute and fluffy does add a nice extra touch to their relationship.

On that note, I do think that Haru is handsome enough facially and that he'd be a good-looking guy with a better physique.

And I think I actually maintain things equally well whether I record something via a pen, pencil, or keyboard. The only sense that pencils make the memory strong for me is in the sense of "Hey I remember writing this because of the scratchy sounds and unpleasant texture of the pencil tips, man pencils sure do suck ass."
Heh, you should see what I do for a living. Pencils, both mechanical and wood and very common.

Agreed! To be honest, I don't really get why people are still hung up on why KYH has fallen for Haru. In the end, it's your heart that decides who you fall in love with, not your eyes.

Generally I agree with what you said, but I guess I just want to add a small precision to this point.

Haruyuki does idolize Kuroyukihime, but his self-esteem issues cause him to think he's not worthy of standing on her level. He basically does see her as a goddess, and himself as a lowly unworthy pawn. I think she actually *wants* him to see her more as a normal girl, and less as a highly goddess that he can't reach (as hinted by both her words and actions). At the same time, I sort of understand what you mean by "not acting like an insane fanboy" -- he's just got so little ego and so little selfish ambition that he's completely sincere with her. He's someone she can trust absolutely when it seems like everyone's got an angle and is potentially out to get her for one reason or another. He's totally sincere, totally kind-hearted, and totally loyal. Plus, he's got "mad skillz", and that's pretty important to someone who could basically be called a hardcore gamer by most accounts.

I am supposing she might see him as someone who will understand her. I think we forget that, despite public appearances, Kuroyukihime isn't really that sociable a girl. She doesn't really have all that many friends, because so much of her life was previously wrapped up in her "second life". So if she's going to fall in love with anyone, it makes sense that it'd be someone who can stand along side her in that world -- the world where she can arguably be her "real self".

I just wished that Noumi remembered everything after loosing Brain Burst, I really really wanted to see that look on his face after all the crap he's been saying up till now. I feel his memory getting windex-ed is a blessing he may not have deserved. Still, perhaps now he may not be such a jack*** later in life.

But it makes me wonder about Brain Burst personality-reading program since from the looks of Dusk Taker, they've analyzed him to be someone that'll take anything and everything, physically and emotionally, and because of his past, he may have become a psychopath. But with BB uninstalled and him getting memory wiped, and from the way he interacted with Haru, is he still destined to be like that? Or does he change since it appears everything and anything to do with BB is erased (since he did not remember Haru).

Also didn't Yellow Radio mention something about wondering how Red Rider feels since he lost his Brain Burst from a sneak Attack (BLotus) but it's revealed here memory wiped. LN Volumn 6 also states RRider memory is wiped. (Is this a minor error?)

Either way, satisfied with this episode. And Fuuko/Sacchan reunion made me smile like Haru .

I absolutely agree with this all the way.

This statement also made me think twice about AW theme of being true to oneself as indicated by the creation of each individual's avatars (Since it's a manifestation of their fears, deep desire, etc) as well as the subplots of Cyan Pile arc (He wanted to be the perfect lover for Chiyu by being highly academic and athletic as well perceiving Haru as an inconvenience) and Dusk Taker/Robber arc (Bloody troll).

Nah, I guessing either:

a) He really doesn't know about the memory wipe and just assume that to troll BL
b) He knew but said that to troll BL

Remember that KYH doesn't know the memory wipe. It is in character for him to do mind games.

Which brings up the question for what purpose does BB exists? It is a very powerful program to erase memories. I highly doubt it is game anymore. Why do I have a feeling that BB is a case study of the young generation?

The news is that I watched the last episode about a week ago, but laziness caught me up to do any reviewing about it.

So, a week later here I am to bring my post for Accel World's 24th episodes.

It was a nice resolution and deserved ending for our protagonists after all the hopelessness and humiliation that Noumi put them through with his underhanded schemes and inflicted, self-hatred.

Maybe without his Accel Brain Burst and previous memories erased he'll grow-up into a decent person this time like what the epilogue showed to the audience with him nicely greeting Haru days after everyone returned from Accel World; like being given a second chance but without his former privilege.

There's still lots of mysteries surrounding Accel World given the very nature of the Brain Burst itself, the state of affairs with the other Kings, and the Research Society to which Noumi relied upon to get his Brain Implant Chip.

It's not bad to ask for another two-cour, second season for Accel World, but in the meantime I'll be enjoying the OVAs.

Now, for a last dessert Kuroyukihime (Sacchan) reunion with Sky Raker (Fuuko), her closest friend, whom she haven't seen a couple of years was such a nice jerker.
The reunion very well complimented with the Nega Nebolous hymn playing in the background.

Just a question about Fuko - in episode 17 it was stated that her leg(s) are artificial, yet in this episode she was running full speed at KYH to hug her. Are her legs actually artificial in real life, or is it just in her avatar form?

Her legs are artificial in real life as well. However, please realize that this is 30 years in the future, so technology must have advanced enough where artificial limbs probably could mimic normal actions.

Yeah, and though the anime doesn't mention it...

Spoiler for about Fuuko's legs:

Chances of this being mentioned in season 2 (crossing fingers) are somewhat low

Low? Seem relatively high to me, given the main objective of Accel World hasn't been completed. It's mostly been development/side quests that occured in s1, so I think s2 has to finish it else remain an unfinished anime which isn't the most favourable thing for a company. I think it would only NOT happen due to lack of sales/funding

And I think the fact that such technologies like nervegear exist, implies that artificial legs would be so sturdy/effective.

I'm just thankful I wasn't watching this on VHS, or the length of tape between Black Vise's exit and Dusk Taker's death would be horribly worn by now. I lost count how many times I watched that scene!! Makes the torture of listening to Noumi's smug talk during all the previous episodes almost worth it. It's been a long long while since I've reviled an anime character so much, and felt so sadistic about his begging.

"Please, please, I'll even join your legion..."
SSSSHINGGGGGG!!!
"EEEK!! Please! Please!"

Absolutely loved this episode. Loved the whole series, but this episode was really satisfying as well. Not just for the aforementioned scene, but for the closure on so many fronts. I can't wait for Season 2, and I'm sure all of us have loads of ideas of how things might develop.

She forgets about Haru, because all of her memories regarding him are too involved with Brain Burst.

There's a way to avoid this, though. Namely, spending time as a couple doing ANYTHING ELSE. Something unrelated to the Accelerated World.

Some dates in real life... heck, even a date in the Unlimited Neutral Field could be remembered, even if she thinks it happened in a different game.

Noumi remembered what it felt like to fly. Megumi remembered the Accelerated World in the context of a half-forgotten children's storybook.

If Silver Crow and Black Lotus had themselves a number of princess-carry flying dates and picnics in the Unlimited Neutral Field, I have no doubt that KYH would remember that she and Haru are a couple who go on dates.

It would just be a lot easier to remember if they had dates in other VR worlds, or the real one.

Incidentally, was I the only one who laughed in delight at nekkid winged Haru?

It was so absurd! And he looked like a little cherub (not the Biblical kind, but the greeting card kind).

And he was so happy.

It was cute, and funny.

I just finished this series (yeah, I'm slow) and I can't help but keep wondering what happened with the Armor of Destruction fragment that was still stuck to Silver Crow's back... I guess this is indeed where a 2nd season would come in handy!
