As far as I know there isn't even a release date for the DVD version. It will take a few months before you can expect anything here.

I don't care if I can see shadows walking in front, this must be subbed.

Yeah, same here. From what I've read, the movie has been doing really well. Reviews seem to be very positive. I was expecting it to be flamed by Hina fanboys/girls. on another note, why can't this be subbed sooner?

Because there are no proper raws of this. No DVD, no bluray. And even though I've subbed every piece of HnG anime so far, I don't feel like wading the P2P networks for camrips. You'll have to wait for a DVD/Bluray

And based on standard timeframes for movies, I'd say that's at least a 4-6 month wait.

I'm actually happy about this, because some people are saying 6-9 months, but I think it will be 4-6 months too. That's around like, early March? I'm hoping so!

The "standard timeframe" for Japanese animation movies is closer to 6-9 months than 4-6. (Based off Gurren Lagann, Haruhi, etc.)

Well, I guess timeframes can change... I just hope it's 4-6 months, though. :\

Really? To be honest, my feelings are lukewarm about it at best, and only if I'm feeling generous.

The good:

o The music was pretty good. I liked OP/ED, and the soundtrack was decent.
o It was short. (To understand why this is good, read on)
o If you're a Nagi fan, you should be happy.

The bad:

o For a movie, the animation was terrible. TER-RI-BLE. Clearly worse than both TV series.
o The "story" was trivial. No excitement whatsoever.
o With very few exceptions, the humor had no edge.

The ugly:

o It was Hayate no Gotoku children's matinee. Target audience was no older than 12.
o The main theme - Hayate's devotion to Nagi - was put on so thick that it ruined the impact.
o Personal disappointment: It emphasized exactly the type of HnG which I consider the weakest.

If you're a sucker for sappiness, fuzzy feelings and are a huge Nagi shipper, the movie may be a 7/10 for you. For me, I see no reason to go past 5/10, and that already feels generous.

The movie is directly linked with the main series, right? I mean, it's not an alternative story or what?

If it's the case, than that woman...

Hmm ... a pity that Mentar did not enjoy the movie.

I will admit that it was certainly lighthearted in it's humor and not "edgy" ... but when Hayate in general resorts to that type of humor is when I enjoy it the most.

Animation quality wise it certainly not "Children Who Hear Voices from Deep Below", but I did not think it was all that bad either - although certainly not up to "film" standards, I guess.

I agree that the soundtrack was pretty good but also admit that I am not much of a "Nagi Shipper", per se. The story is directly linked with the main series, but rather than an alternate story I would guess it would be more of a supplemental story. Must admit that I am kinda curious if it will be incorporated into the manga.

But then again I have to confess outright that I am a sucker for sappiness and fuzzy feelings (my fave series this season is Tamayura Hitotose, for example), so my opinion on the whole may not be surprising.

So yeah ... I would give the film a 7.5/10 vote overall.
