Also, once you manage to have Fencers, suddenly your Armored Techs become far more useful. Clearing camps, killing Powered V2s...

I've found that once I hit ** missions, I started to use Fencers/Maulers, but in *** missions, Maulers are indispensable. They're the only units that can efficiently take out a Tower. And Fencers can OHKO nearly any infantry. The only exception is V2s.

Also, until a friend showed me Elite Snipers, I didn't really try to build up my snipers much. After that...

Unrelated, I'd also like to note that the last December mission can be a bitch if the boss holes up in one of the Gateway Camps. Took me three tries to get a one-turn method so that he wouldn't move. >_<

Ah, the class leveling system in 2. Good thing 3 changed it.

But, "Our Story" remains my favourite VC song.

As silly as this sounds, do you think:
Spoiler for Rene+Magari=???:

Of course I'm not finished the whole story *Only up to the November missions*, nor seen all of the daily activities videos that pop up all over the place. Where it might all be explained.

Just natural curiosity

I would say that it is more of Margari having few friends because of who she is (a Darscen).

Spoiler for her personal mission:

Read somewhere that there's a way to get the Japanese voices onto the English version of VC2. Does anyone know how to do it?

I just did some searching online for the cost of a PSP and the Valkyria Chronicles Two game.

PSP around $140 AU, the game itself is around $15

Its probably getable within my margin in the next coming weeks. But my biggest concern is how dam tiny the screen is.. can I plug it into a digital TV ? or computer monitor ? Surely they would design the PSP to be able to do that ? Sony arn't idiots are they ?

You can pick up component or composite cables to hook it up to the tv. I'm not sure if the latest version (E1000) is able to do that but I guess it should be. I've got them and their pretty decent BUT the resolution is pretty low and it shows when playing on a big TV. IMHO you shouldn't bother.

FINALLY caved and bought a PSP. Ordered VC2 on Amazon. Should get here tomorrow. Can't wait to start playing it, but that may not be for awhile because the first few weeks of the school year will probably be awful.

Is Valkyria Chronicles 2 better than the first one?

What improves in the second game? what is missing from the sequel?

I'm only a little bit into it so far, but I'd have to say that the original is better. So far, the story of the 2nd one really has not grabbed me like VC1's did. As for gameplay... it's really not much different from VC1 with the exception of there being fewer buttons/sticks so it's marginally more difficult to move around the battlefield. Still, the mechanics are mostly the same.

EDIT: All my worst fears about the story are coming true already. The original VC had an absolutely amazing story. It was mature and emotional yet still had good humor. This game's story... wow. Just wow. I want to cry it's so bad. I tend to like high school slice-of-life animes, but that is an incredibly inappropriate type of story to follow up something like VC.

Combat isn't too different so far. Fortunately, the missions have been short enough that it isn't too much of a pain to restart once I figure out an A-Rank strategy if I don't get it the first time around.

VC2 is just a high school drama with really annoying characters. So many stereotypical troops it just isn't fun.

They should have just ignored VC2 and concentrated on VC3 for PS3 originally.

That said I should finish the bastard one day.
