Lightbulb Fansubbing seminar on irc.

I have been thinking about holding a fansubbing seminar on irc for months now.

Basicly for normal people who just download and new begginers to learn how others do.

Like having diffrent people from diffrent groups describe their procedures possibly awnser questions from the people in the chan during the seminar ^^

If you are interested in being part of a panel for something like this could you contact me on irc rizon.
(Sakaki-, Cibo, Sakaki-X)

or my msn fjz578v@tninet.se ^^

Take Care

I held something like that for basic typesetting over 2 years ago. It was a big success. I kept the IRC log of it, and made it available online. That chatlog continues to produce positive feedbacks to this date.

People are hungry for interactive seminars like that.

Good luck with it. And I'd be glad to be a part of the panel.

Then do you mind telling us where the log is?

Google is your friend. "Sylf's Typesetting Lesson" will direct you to froth's page, where the guide is hosted.

As a newbie fansubber, I'd love to participate in something like this. Go for it.

Sounds fun, I'll help too. Would be nice if someone did this at a convention too, maybe I'll do one for my next con.

This sounds like it could be intresting. I'd be willing to help with any one who was a new translator, that needed pointers and what not.

I'm not really much into irc, but if the community has changed on there, I may have to install a client again.

for those of you who don't like irc like the last guy, we hold fansub panels at most US Cons.

to name the larger ones with panels

Anime Central
Anime Expo
Otakon

If you are interested in it and are not IRC willing then try to show up for one of the panels ^^

I am interested in learning as always. But how are you going to announce the time and "location" of the seminar? Post it in Animesuki forum?

I'd definitely pay more than a thousand dollars to go to the US and spend a few hours talking to people I could just as well bash on IRC. Not.

17:43:16 <~deculture> nice job, fag!

01:04:41 < Plorkyeran> it was annoying to typeset so it should be annoying to read

why be sarcastic and nasty TheFluff? getfresh was just letting people know about another way to learn. So you don't go to conventions, ok. You can continue to bash people on irc but you didn't need to take that tone.

Quoted from the Why Retire thread

Now, fansubbers are another deal. Unsurprisingly, they generally care a lot more about the anime and the fansubs than the average leecher. This means that many of them enjoy engaging in huge debates about whose release is the best, wheter a certain character is a bastard or not, wheter certain groups suck etc. etc. They are usually much more aggressive, verbose, intelligent and ruthless than the average leecher who never says anything. Especially ex-fansubbers generally seem to hold a great deal of hate and bitterness. Those people are MUCH better at making you feel fansubbing is crap than any leecher.

Look at this thread for example. The great majority of the people insulting each other's intelligence (yes, LytHka, that means you) are fansubbers or ex-fansubbers themselves.
So I guess you want to make people retire before they even start...
