childhood fears
any silly kiddy fears that we've outgrown? (or not )
i used to be scared of the sound of the toilet flushing. i'd flush, wash my hands then run away as fast as possible lol. i used to think it was haunted or something. i was scared of vampires too, but my version of vampires would bite people in the ankle so i was afraid not to wear socks for the longest time... |

When I was in preschool, a class mate told me that if I ate radishes the Chupacabra would come and eat me. And that is why I never ate radishes when I was a kid. I still don't, but not for that reason, they are just nasty. :P
It's funny that I actually believed him, kids at that age are so gullible... |

I have many, many childhood fears. I was a real scaredy-neko.
Here's one that's similar to bananabanana's: I also had a fear of the toilet, but more because I was afraid something would come out and grab me and pull me down into the toilet than the sound (though loud toilets freaked me out like no other... even now they still *shokku* me). This is a common one, but I was deathly afraid of the dark, too. Every night was spent cowering under the covers. More later |

A bronze statue of this girl sitting on a public bench outside of Wendy's. I don't know why but her face was so scary. Every time I walk past, I would turn my head and look away. Ah, those were the times. I would love to visit that place again now but I don't know where it is...
I was also scared of the dark and used a night light. Ironically, now, I find that having night lights are even scarier than the dark since it has that eerie white glow. |

Hmm, I personally don't have any interesting fears other than the normal, you know, kids stuff. Ghosts, zombies, the dark. Stuff like that.
What I can tell you is that my mom has the most hilarious (to me) childhood fear: Alice in Wonderland. That's right, Disney's animated movie Alice in Wonderland. She told me once that the weirdo cat freaked her out as a little kid. After that, she never watched it again. Even to this day (and she's 48 years old, mind you) she is still can't even contemplate aspects the movie, much less watch it. Very odd...

Up to age 9 I had a fear of shots.
I would actually throw a tantrums on the spot if I knew I was going to get a shot, and it is sorta fuzzy but I remember getting teeth pulled out and the dentist was about to give the anesthetic and I actually bit his finger... yeah, sometimes it's best to look back at the past with rose-tinted glasses.

mostly insects, lizards and rats... now I've out grown those fears, but still in my mind lizards are too icky to deal with yuck!
Others are the dark and ghost which I've out grown also. Iam still a bit afraid of heights though...but it never stopped me from ridding a double loop roller coaster. Just shout your lungs out AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

When I was around 11 or so, there was this night I suddenly woke up.
This was in apartment (condo, actually) complex in Japan. I came out of the room to the hallways, to go to the restroom, when I saw a white, glowing figure walk right up to me, and past me into my room, and close the door. Frightened, I stood in front of my room for a while... then gathered up enough courage to open it. There was no one in my bedroom, but the window was open. There are steel bars on the window, and no one can go through it, btw. Since that experience, I can't laugh at ghost stories and claim it nothing but rubbish. For the record, it's been 20 years and I have not encountered any ghosts since then. I dunno... Unlike most normal kids, I was a horny little brat ever since I can remember. Like since 6 years old.
