Well I think X5 was a pretty cool looking combination, though I think music wise X4B trumps it . Still hints at the teams combining forces at the end.

Lot of questions though in regards to Nene's team. What is darknightmon up to and why is Nene working with him? She definitely doesn't seem to trust him and he didn't seem to care if anything happened to her. Sparrowmon was pretty interesting once we got past just saying "can I destroy this person?" Interesting bond between Nene and Sparrowmon. Just not sure what Nene is up to. Kiriha was absent from this situation as well even though they are supposed to be working together. Though I suppose he wouldn't cooperate with something that would give a code crown to the enemy.

I've finished Heaven Zone and Forest Zone. It's about time we get to know about other characters, namely Nene and Kiriha. It is long overdue. There's something wrong with Nene's army and DarkKnightmon is a dick. Is he working for himself or for someone else? X5 made his debut, he's pretty cool, but I agree that X4B The Guardian trumps his theme song by a mile.

I'm glad that we finally have more of Kiriha and his Blue Flare army in Forest Zone, even though it's not as much as I expected. More mysteries about Nene and the fact that she's fighting for her younger brother. Kiriha got more character development and the fact that he did care about his comrades and even Nene. He has the most love (?) among the characters and this earned him Deckerdramon. I can't wait to see more of Blue Flare action!

It's been three weeks since my last post, and three weeks from where I last left off.

I got that pretty bad feeling when Lucemon showed up as "nice" guy in the fifteenth episode, and this following one confirmed my worst fears.

Xros War's Lucemon is just as a villain as his Digimon Frontier's encarnation counterpart was.

The strange thing is that Lucemon biologically morphed back to his Falldown-Mode rather than digi-volving to it.

So, it's a granted that the Demon-Lord's from the previous Digimon series all are going to appear, plus the remaining ones that are yet to show.

Digimon 02 - Daemon (major story-arc villain)
Digimon Tamers - Beelzebumon (major story-arc antagonist and later reformed anti-hero)
Digimon Frontier - Lucemon + Falldown-Mode + Satan Mode (story's primary and end villain)
Digimon Savers - Belphemon Sleep / Rage Mode (story arc plot device and villain)

Currently:
Digimon Xros Wars - Lilithmon (Bagura army - Three Head officers and evil bosses)

Leviamon (summoned by Taiki through use of Digi-Memory card)

Barbatomon - Demon Lord yet to appear


But, the thing is Nene. Her loyalties are a mystery and uncertain. She struck a bargain with Lucemon to get to the Sky Temple and had DarkKnightmon to absorb the dark aura.
She's not with the Bagura Army, but that doesn't mean she cannot make deals with them.

With this big, awestruck revelation Nene's character has drastically increased.

I really want to know her past background, and what she is up to with DarkKnightmon, since he's also got an evil aura.

This episode was spectacular: Shoutmon X4B was flawless, but too bad I cannot say the same for Xros Wars Lucemon Falldown-Mode.

In Frontier, Lucemon Falldown-Mode was a Godly-insane, freaking Powerhouse, and I mean it. However, in the current Digimon series, this Lucemon incarnation was pretty lame and tamed in terms of power levels.

I cannot bring myself how come a Demon Lord of his caliber is Lilithmon's subordinate.

Well of course this one is weaker. Frontier Lucemon was the main villain of the entire series, and only fought the kids after having absorbed the entire Digital World, and the Royal Knights who had been utterly owning KaiserGreymon and MagnaGarurumon for the past 8 episodes.

Well glad we finally got a bit more understanding of Kiriha and Nene. I'm still not sure what exactly DarkKnightmon has on her and how her brother relates. Is it that he is also in the digital world or that he's alone in the human world and she wanted to take the quickest route to escape even if it meant teaming up with that guy? At the very least now Akari can't leave her alone either with their similarities in wanting to get home. Seems both Nene and Kiriha misunderstood the kind of person the other was. Nene seeing Kiriha as a cold-hearted person who only cares about power. Kiriha seeing Nene as a shallow person.

Liked seeing a bit more from Kiriha. Bounced back from getting owned in that surprise attack from DarkKnightmon. From the flashback can guess that he lost his parents and had to survive on his own. Finding that the only way to overcome the pain was by getting stronger. Might be why he only takes the strong with him thinking they are the only ones that can handle what he has to do in the digital world. May believe it's easier on the digimon he does discard to be left behind early in the mission than to break later when times get even more difficult.

Blue Flare gained some extra firepower in this one. Wonder if there will be a combination with MetalGreymon at some point. At the least the combination is pretty handy for artillery bombardments .

Well that does make sense. Figured there might be some combination like that for Kiriha to use. Really since Taki has been getting X4B, Knight, and temporarily X5 it was about time for Kiriha to get some more guys to help match up. Of course he probably does have a few more digimon hidden away that we haven't seen yet.

The strongest feature for the seventeenth episode was the strong dynamics of the relationship between Nene and Sparrowmon.

Spoiler:

The darkness forced Nene's saddest memories and recalled one about Sparrowmon's pledging undying friendship towards her.

This side of Nene (not being seen) adds gravitas to her character and mades it clear, that her recent actions were relunctant.

DarkKnightmon did not hold at confessing outright that Nene, indeed, has a use for him, and judging by the conclusion for this episode, he has no intentions to discard her at meantime.

It's a mystery why Nene struck an unpleasant alliance with DarkKnightmon, but she cannot object to him, particularly that she's quick to respond to his calls for the lookout of the next Zone's Code Crowns.

Kudos, were definitely for Sparrowmon since its devotion towards Nene made it temporarily stubborn at asking for help and refusing Taiki's kind-hearted intentions, however, Taki proved more at with actions to ensure Sparrowmon got to save Nene.

And moved by Taikis' brave actions and selflessness, Sparrowmon conceded the latest DigiXros with ShoutmonX4.

The end really was the most intense part of the episode. I can't believe that both Taiki and Kiriha wouldn't even think about going to touch a creepy looking orb of darkness. Am I the only one who'd think that would be a bad idea? Of course if he is somehow restraining Nene inside that darkness then can understand going to try and get her out.

I'm not sure if Kiriha really wanted to team up with DarkKnightmon to eliminate the biggest enemy or if he really was just there to try and look out for Nene. Right now taking down that guy is a difficult thing to do even teamed up with Taiki. Can stay close to Nene while building up a force through the various zones that can take DarkKnightmon down. Sadly no doubt there is some darkness in Kiriha so he was affected badly by that orb. It's just that he has decided to push through his own darkness instead of Taiki who apparently has nothing. His only negative experience is leaving someone who wanted to be left alone, alone.

With Lilithmon the whole situation is getting crazy. Will have to snap Kiriha awake or else it's all over. Just not sure what is going to happen though. Another combination battle against DarkKnightmon? Defeating Lilithmon?

Overall the ep was alright, though I didn't care much about the Puppetmon story. There is just more interesting stuff going on right now.

Spoiler for Episode 20:

Akari and Zenjirou just... did something?! What a delightful surprise.

Other than this frustratingly rare sight, there wasn't all that much worth mentioning about the episode. And I was really hoping Taiki being separated from the other two would have been a bit more relevant here, so it was a bit disappointing to see them all get reunited after like, one minute. (Though the "Dorulumon Cushion" was pretty funny.)

...Well, okay, there was one good thing about the episode; Any scenes involving DarkKnightmon. That guy is shaping up to be a pretty epic villain.

And of course, next week is episode 21. And as we all know, the 21st episode of any given Digimon series always contains some hugely important event, and is more than likely to be really awesome. And if the preview is any indication, they fully intend to continue this tradition here.

Tactimon's return to the battlefield advanced things smoothly, particularly that he has found an interesting
challenge in the likes of Shoutmon X4B.

Now, he'll return back for an epic duel once Baguramon breaks the seal placed on Tactimon's sword sheath. So that'll be a hell of a battle to check out.


Now, DarkKnightmon has started to move, and Nene's anguish is made more than evident when she had to forced herself to act relentless and cold against the local Digimon to get the key to the ancient Digimon.

Kiriha's team was almost done by DarkKnightmon, but thankfully Xros Heart arrived in the nick of time.

DarkKnightmon's agenda becomes blurry and unreadable to figure out still at this point in this story, so I'm hoping that the producers will add some Nene's flash background to explain why the Digimon is using Nene for, and the reasons to Team Twilight's creation.

Apologies for the double-post.

When I thought that the story couldn't get better, this episode exploded with a strong torrent of emotions and character exploration at the peak of the climax.

Spoiler:

Nene's motives are exposed through flashbacks. She wants to return home along with her brother Yuu, but at some point DarkKnightmon took advantage of her despair and made her work for the two of them.

SkullKnightmon + AxeDramon form DarkKnightmon, and those two are using a sort of blackmail on Nene to keep her tight and obedient.

They couldn't care less if Kiriha got the Code Crown and Deckerdramon, hence, that means there testing for something.

Now, we have to question ourselves is if those are major story-arc villains? or do they keep ties, at least with Baguramon?

They're scheming, manipulators, and quick-thinkers, so I do not think the mercenary or bounty hunter role will befit them. I can only think that may be they are an outsider party having their own agenda.

Anyways, while the animation at the climax turned out somewhat strange, the quality still went up, particularly focusing on Nene displaying for the first time this wide arrange of emotions: frustration, anguish, concern, and despair.

Kiriha got to shine as well in the spotlight for its background was partially exposed through flashbacks, thus hinting the reason as to why his current character integrity.

He wants to make himself stronger so as to be dragged by more tragedies.

The young Kiriha either cried because his parents divorced and go separate ways or both died. In either scenario, he became broken-home child.

So, really it's not that Kiriha possess an inherent cruelty. It's just he shut himself tight from unnecessary contact with other people.

More apologies for a triple post, but finally I caught up with everyone.

This twentieth episode is the calm before the storm.

There was more nostalgia delivered watching onscreen more digimon characters from the very first season, as well as the return of the trailmons from the fourth series.

Spoiler:

A good, fast-paced episode with GrandLocomon leading its selfishness down the road, and a good episode with Taiki once again proving to the Digimon that trust is possible and a natural reaction to look after others.

Things got totally complicated now that DarkKnightmon seemingly has achieved his agenda for the moment.

Filling the "fuko" gau-, err, wrong anime. I mean filling the black orb with Kiriha's darkness, alongside Nene's.

Brainwashing the lad to add him to his army, plus bringing along SkullSatamon plus SkullGreymon, and we have total MAD fallout.

Can't wait for the next episode.

Spoiler for Ep21:

Well that all worked out better than I expected. Nene was saved so that's good. Though now DarkKnightmon has enough power to work without needing Nene so it's not like he suffered a loss. The real question is the location of her brother and when they will track him down. Seems like Nene will stick around with XHeart which makes sense since outside of Sparrowmon (which is becoming more a part of XHeart anyways) she doesn't have much.

Thought it'd take more than a cliche punch to wake Kiriha up, but oh well. Sadly after his bold actions and an actual attempt to save Nene just gets used as a tool for a while. No surprise he's still going to work on his own though it means if any of them run into DarkKnightmon they won't have a chance.

The worst part is that it seems X5 is going to become more common now. Honestly that song is dead last behind the ones used for X4 and X4B. Also surprised that in a big confrontation with Lilithmon there was no sign of beelzebumon. You'd think he would come out at least to get involved in that kind of episode.
