We might be getting some info at the upcoming http://www.animecontentsexpo.jp/products/index.html as Kizu's listed as one of the titles ~~~ (Shaft has 6 shows in this thing if you count ~monogatari as one series).

OT: Mayo Chiki and Hoshi o Ou Kodomo are part of it too =D.

Yes, because that's the writer's style.

I love that style. If you think about it, the material otherwise is pretty shallow.

From what I know, Nisioisin said that he wrote Bakemonogatari as 100% hobby, thus the most nisioisin-flavoured novel of all. Kizumonogatari was 120%, and Nisemonogatari... (lol) was 140%.

Talking a lot with infinite monologue is generally true for most of light-novels. It's just Nisioisin is... a bit extreme case. ^_^;;

Plus they chose to adapt a lot of it. They could have left a lot out on Bake and I can think of a few series based on light novels that could have benefited from some more detail that was left out.

When you watch these shows, just pretend you're reading a book, with animated pictures.

More like a radio drama with animated pictures

Radio drama can't project a big blob of text and 1 word-per-frame mayhem, in silence. But yeah, it's a good analogy.

I've been out of the anime loop for months and I come back to this.........looks like I can't get the monkey off my back yet.

(Read most past posts)

Anyways, I'm still holding out for some big roll out.

I've never read Nishioshin's books (thinking about importing one now) but LOVED Bakemonogatari.

His stuff is talky but his style is VERY unique, one reason I liked Bake was because of it's quirkiness that totally broke with anime/manga style exposition (most of the time) with a wit and edge that I see in more western productions than anime, real breath of fresh air.

As for Aya Hirano, meh I'm not sold but I've been surprised before. I NEVER thought Megumi "Winry" Toyoguchi would put on such a tour de force butch portrayl as Revy in Black Lagoon for example

(She's the reason I stick with the original version over the equally great dubbed version ).

While I can't really imagine Hirano Aya as Kiss-shot, I don't think it's necessarily impossible. I have faith in the casting director to make the right choice. Everyone in Bakemonogatari was pretty much perfect after all. And as I recall many were surprised by Chiwa Saito's performance as Senjougahara, since she doesn't usually do characters like that. Shouldn't we extend the same benefit of the doubt to Aya? I'm sure she'll get fired if it turns out in audition/recording that she's terrible at it.

Whether or not she does a good job I'm actually afraid that her involvement will bring the series down. She seems to be not aware of what fans want from her.

Same here. Her record shows a hardcore roller coaster, hope it won't be unhealthy for Kizu. If it won't, I'll be the happier.

Considering her fanbase and all the publicity she gets, I don't think there's a consensus on what everyone wants from Aya.

Tokoro Tomokazu, series director of Maria+Holic, says production temporarily stopped due to enormous mental pressure they are suffering. Shaft is in crisis again.
Seems like Kizumonogatari isn't even on their schedule anymore.
Current Works by Shaft:
Denpa Onna
Maria
Kaizo OVA
Sayonara OVA <---Everything above is supposedly within the year
Negima Movie
Kizu

Discussing
Hidamari 4

The thing is Shaft usually has something every season, and Denpa and Maria are both Spring so there are Summer and Fall anime series they are working on too.

Whoever runs Shaft must be such a slave driver

But seriously, i really feel for the poor animators. I'd rather take their well-being over impatience anytime
