Battler's sin is to have spoken irresponsible words the last year he attended the Ushiromiya family meeting prior to Asumu's death (1980).

Basically he told Shannon that he would come with a white horse the year after and that he would take her away with him.

Yes it's exactly as many people thought, with a small difference. Battler never thought it was really a promise, but Shannon believed it was. So it was even worse for her, if it was a broken promise she could hate Battler for breaking it, but considering the situation she's spent the next years wondering if that was really a promise or if she herself was the one who's been stupid to see it that way.

But the worst part of the whole story is that Battler in the end returned, at the time she already had lost any hope to see him coming back.

And yes Shannon fell in love with Battler, back in 1979 at the very least she was already lost for him. Battler himself had a crush on her (he said it himself in a early episode) but not nearly as much as Shannon loved him. Battler never understood how much Shannon loved him.

After giving up on Battler, Shannon fell in love with George, however she admitted (in front of him) that she loved Battler a lot more, but it's now a thing of the past (is it?).

EDIT: so its true that the reason why Beato is angry at ep 4 is that Beatrice offers to take on the burden of waiting for and loving Battler. Thus, Shannon gives Beatrice her love for Battler????? so the whole game was a reason to be close to Battler? and she really like Battler?

Yeah that's right. Gohda's wound is also not in his chest it's in his neck, and Kinzo wasn't even wounded. So only half of them had chest wounds in episode 3. But Shannon still did, so I guess that makes up for Kanon not having it.

People were talking about it here before, but isn't Clair/Claire first name a reference to Willard H. Wright' wife?
Well, her pseudonym was Claire de Lisle and she was a portrait painter. Her white clothes are probably based on her name meaning.

Her last name is from Divine Comedy.

I wonder if Leon's name is a reference from Resident Evil 2, since there's a Claire in the game...

Why the hell would you bother introducing new characters at the very end of the series? Especially one speaking about "the truth" of things where "Rokkenjima will wake from the dream of magic"?

There's various ways new characters could be introduced. Akin to how the "seven maids of purgatory" were introduced in arc 7.

- We might get to see Asumu, finally.
- If I'm wrong about Battler we might get to see the "real" Battler (Asumu's son Battler that is).
- We could see Yasu's genuine appearance, sorta would count as such.
- We could see Kinzo's dead wife in a flashback.
- We could see new people Ange goes to visit in the future, with minor roles, such as that professor guy. Ange never saw any Genji relatives if anything.

On "Notes From a Certain Cook", we have Gohda's testimony about the strange event that happened when he "defied" Beatrice existence while talking to Kanon.
Supposedly, Kanon started to work on the mansion, after Shannon right? Never once, Gohda talks about Shannon on this note (when he saw the feminine silhouette it never crossed his thought that it could be Shannon recklessly wondering around)

This could mean that Shannon on the real island doesn't exist, adding to the Shkanon theory (believing that only Kanon exists).

-There are other things that are worthy to mention in his notes, like an "x" person existing on the island (Yasu, like is being speculated) and having a accomplice inside the house - most probably kanon?

Well, it's nothing new, but I wanted to check it.

Shannon started working in 1976, Kanon in 1983.
It is doubtful that Shannon doesn't exist in the island because everyone remembers her from a long time, including Battler. There's also Will's comment in EP7 (already translated) about how strange is that Lion doesn't remember a servant that has been working for 10 years.

Yeah Lion is the only one that doesn't remember her and Kanon, but it's implied Lion is the odd one.

I think that Gohda simply didn't bother to mention Shannon, I think there are other people that he didn't mention at all, that doesn't mean they don't exist.
