Of course, I like the original English voices; but I was honestly hoping to see a dub from well-known seiyuus someday. This is like the next best thing you could get.

That doesn't seem to be the same team who made a dub of RWBY in a video posted earlier in this thread. I have to check this out though. Watching this on English sub with Japanese dubbing and the circle is complete.

Unofficial dub? Amazing, the gap between this and anything that comes out of the Voice Acting Alliance is like, immeasurable.

I may FINALLY be able to actually watch this. I have been holding off on watching RWBY because I can't STAND the voice acting. It just sucks way too much for me to be able to tolerate it. But if there's a Japanese dub with English subs on it, I could enjoy it! Finally! I'm ridiculously happy right now.

But you have to remember this was done in-house without bring any VA vets so you are dealing with Newbies as VA. I think they did a good job with their VA. To each its own.

All of that information is kind of besides the point. I don't care about where the talent comes from. Amateur talent can sound fantastic and professional talent can sound awful.

In-house VAs or not, it doesn't change the fact that they sound horrible enough (to ME) to ruin my enjoyment of the show. :/

Holy crap. Someone leaked the 2nd OP, shown at PAX, and it is EPIC. Version I saw was a horrible cam job, but what you can make out is very interesting...

Don't know how long it will be up (or its legality) so I'm not posting where I saw it, but you can find it if you look.

Some things changed within the team, as seen with the 2nd Production Diary video.
Kristina Nguyen, for example, got an upgrade from concept artist to Art Director. You can see how someone who has a firm grasp of the environmental aspect of RWBY changes a lot of things.

The biggest gripe most people have with dubbing is that it's widely preferred to have the original dubs over another. As Ecko said, to each their own.

Personally, whether they're new(er) to the voice acting scene or not, I can't imagine the characters' voices any other way now. I think they suit them very well.

Awesome they got season 2 on the works now. Best thing again is that they got a Japanese dub version. imho the dubs are pretty well done.
