Just read the chapter and felt like it was very similar to the first episode of E7, only with different characters and setting (there are other differences, but not really enough). I was never a fan of E7 to begin with, but hopefully, this sequel doesn't rehash the first series.

Hmm...I don't know what to make of this. I'm interested in knowing what happened to Renton and Eureka so I think I'm going to continue follow this till it's over.

Read this now. Bizarre opening for a continuation in the Eureka Seven universe. I hope it's not going to turn out to be a generic mecha show with "how is this related to Eureka Seven?" the show's main mystery. Seems like it'd have to be something goofy, but maybe there'll be a pleasant surprise.
On the other hand, getting a "Chrono Cross" feel: an epic original that spanned a vast world, a sequel set entirely within a tiny island in an obscure backwater of the original's world. |

^So true. Honestly, the first 10 episodes or so of eureka 7 wasn't spectacular either, but the series really hit a stride that continued to the end after the first eureka image change. I'll wait for the anime before commenting on where they're going with this.

I liked the part of the first chapter where the robot seems to have mistook the new MC as Eureka. And WTH happened to Nirvash's design?

Or how about: ¯\(°_o)/¯ ?
Not promising, sigh. Some of the my favorite aspects of Eureka Seven were in the setting and general world-building -- the world was a bit over-built, I think, b/c they were hoping to turn it into a full-on franchise -- so I was a bit disappointed chapter 1 didn't have any signs of being *set* in the E7 universe. Even just a single coral pillar off in the distance would've been a pleasant surprise. Maybe the "Chrono Cross" vibe was right: "Okinawa" will be the E7 universe's isolated, isolationist Iran, somehow? Ao and Nirvash striking back at the great satan? |
