Deleting Desktop icon helps?

I just wanted to ask this question, since my computer is suffering from the lack of RAM or memory.
Would deleting desktop icons help eliminate some of the RAM usage?

Not Really... you have to lessen your startup programs: go to RUN, then type msconfig, there you have options to tinker with your startup applications.

Anways, you could just transfer the icons on your desktop to a folder incase you need them at a later time.

Also if you really want to save a bit on RAM usage, try running with a plain background
instead of using a background image, that in my view made my system a little more responsive
about 5+ years back...

Also, If your using XP, you could always try turning down the eye candy for the taskbar\windows.

Here are some good programs to try fix your pc :
Not neces. free though
Spyware Remover( spyware eats your ram ALOT)
1. Ad-Aware
2.SpyBot Search and Destroy

Registry Fixer ( Makes your registry in tip top shape, making pc faster to boot)
1. Registry Mechanic
2. XP Repair Pro 2006 , note that it also tries to remove antivirus, firewall on your startup list, make sure you check everything it tries to remove before hitting REPAIR, ok? Use with CARE, it will disable your firewall/antivirus.

Registry Mechanic is safe though.
Aight thats about it.

Oh one more tip to make your pc faster:
1.Disable Indexing, right click EVERY HardDrive you have ex: drive c, d, e (cd/dvd drive not included)
2. Uncheck Allow Indexing, hit apply. =) Now your pc is abit faster.

Another fix for lack of ram is using virtual memory:
I recommend at least 2x the amount of ram you have as your VM.
EX. You have 128mb ram, put 256mb as your VM, 256mb Min, 256MB Max, the reason for have min and max the same value is for you to avoid fragmentation as it uses your Hard Disk.
How to do it?
Right click my computer, go to properties, then advance tab, then Under Performance go hit settings, then Under Performance Options, Thinker the Virtual Memory. ^_^

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER NEVER USE MORE THAN 80%of your HARD DISK Using more will slow your pc and i MEAN IT. =)
