The only cool thing about the initial D cars is like unlike stuff like need for speed or fast and furious the initial D cars are stuff we can buy.

I don't know where you work, but I can't afford half the stuff on Takumis car. RS Watanabe wheels are crazy expensive! And let's not even start with a touring-spec TRD 20v 4AGE, LOL.

This. For all I know Takumi's engine post blowout is tuned by Toyota's Racing Team or somesuch.

Not to mention all the nice thingies it has. Not to mention that Kyousuke's car is also tuned like hell.

And he's rich.

The new anime is slated to air this November on Animax's pay-per-view service, according to ANN's article. Also, m.o.v.e will perform new theme songs.

yeah but you can buy "the car" just not with the actual tunning; now try buying a Lamborghini regardless of tunning.

Buying a Trueno and taking it out for a spin down a mountain without tuning is a death sentence.

Doing that with any car that isnt setup properly and without experience is a death sentence regardless. The point the other poster made still stands though. These are cars you can buy. I have owned an Fd, an AE86, a 180sx(american version), an s13 silvia conversion coupe, an s14, and I own a 2nd gen miata right now. Of course none of these cars hold a candle to the 830 hp corvette I take out on weekends for canyon carving.

They are still based on real cars that anyone can buy...

Well, there are people who can buy Lambos and Ferraris as well. Hell, I have more than 1 friend with an M3!

But I do see the point he was trying to make. The cars themselves are all relatively easy entries (although try finding an AE86 in as good condition as Takumis for a *reasonable* price). It's the modifications that Takumi and Project D do that suspend belief IMO, no better than NFS. But hey, anime!

And I'll just add, I HAVE driven a relatively stock AE86 (US trim) on a touge-like road. It's not as hard as you'd think (to drive quick, not Takumi-quick), there's a reason they're so popular even before Initial D. Although that being said, and without wishing to boast, I am a regular autocrosser and am a bit more "experienced" driver than the average Initial D viewer.

No, it's an FRC. C5 Z06 body, but before it was called a Z06.

Spoiler:

My 3rd C5, and each one keeps adding about 200-250hp.

Well now we know that m.o.v.e is on the OP and possibly ED.

But the way they're releasing this.. is... intriguing.

Thanks for keeping us posted milady.

Cheers

A monthly schedule of two episodes each is interesting. I wonder if any other show has taken this approach before?

Pretty sure the schedule for the Saint Seiya Lost Canvas OVAs was similar to this.

4th stage and Wangan Midnight did the same thing too. It's pretty much just an extended OVA format when you really look at it. The fact that it's only PPV further adds onto that too.
