*shrug* What can I say? Sometimes I just have to get something out. It's not a great chapter, I don't think, but it moves the plot forward one more step.

2. I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of cliffhanger.

4. Starlight Breaker is not going to have 'Stripping Beam Mode', is it?
Full review later (Btw I forgot but would you prefer having reviews here, on FF, or both?)
1. It's cute that you think this is what I meant when I said I was going to do that.
2. They can't all be cliffhangers.
3. She's supposed to be disturbing!
4. ... ... well, it wasn't...
Reviews are reviews, where they are doesn't matter too much. Both! Both! Praise Me!
"There you three are." A female voice spoke up as Uno, Due and Jail walked out of Precia's cabin. "Took you long enough."
Jail just chuckled at her. "Don't worry about it, Tre..." He trailed off and looked at Uno. "Oh, do make sure to arrange for a nursemaid to take care of Precia... On the Bureau's dime, of course."
"Of course." Uno nodded, smiling softly. "But, might I ask why?"
Jail chuckled, his shoulders shaking. "It's simple... We were colleagues and partners, I would like to think that she wouldn't mind an old friend helping her out."
"Tre..." Due whined as she suddenly glomped the taller woman. "I don't have a big butt, do I?" She pouted, getting a flustered look from Tre and laughter from Uno and Jail. "That mean old lady said my butt was big!"
"No," Tre said flatly, "your butt is still small and pert, Due, now let go of me."
"Okay!" Due grinned as she let go. "Come on, doctor, I wanna go see my other sisters!"
Jail chuckled as he pulled out a remote and touched the big button on it, causing the four of them to disappear in a flash of light.

Meanwhile...
"Lord Dolphin..." Riksfalto sighed as the two of them walked through the open field. "While I'm sure that this is the stuff to make chocolate, it doesn't taste good until it gets put together properly, right?"
The long-haired Mazoku pouted at what her General said. It was true. "I know, but we're in Chile, I think..." She scratched her head and shrugged. "Anyway, we're in Chile, and that guy with the donkey said that they had cocoa beans here! I want to eat them!"
"But, if it's beans, then it's not turned into chocolate yet..." Riksfalto looked around the field. "Besides, this stuff, it's more likely to cause a human to go through some weird effects." She turned her head and smirked as she heard yelling from people. "Oh, would you look at that, the locals are mad at us." She tilted her head and concentrated for a moment. "Weird how this world has so many languages... How the hell do they communicate with each other?" Still, it didn't take her long to figure out what they were saying. Something about opium, but she wasn't sure what that was. "Can I kill them?"
"Ah, go ahead, it looks like there's no cocoa here." Dolphin pouted and started walking off. "The next person we see, I'm going to find out if they know where the best chocolate around is!"
Riksfalto grinned as she looked at the humans. "Come on, boys... Let's see if any of you are interesting."
The grin slipped from her face as the men went down easily, none of them were using any sort of magic to fight back, and the weapons that they used, while interesting, didn't do anything for her. "Che... Why can't more men be like Yuuno, huh? You're all... SO PATHETIC!" Riksfalto growled before blasting the whole group with a large fireball, incinerating them.
Dolphin looked back as she saw the dark aura snapping around Riksfalto, before shaking her head. The poor Mazoku seemed so... Irritable when she wasn't talking about that boy that nearly killed her.
She supposed that it wouldn't hurt to let Riksfalto go and find him again. 'Might be good for a laugh.' She chuckled to herself. It might also cause the General to actually start relaxing, they were on vacation for crying out loud! Being wound up would only lead to problems.
"Riksfalto!" Dolphin yelled, catching her General's attention. "Go ahead and find that boy of yours." Seeing Riksfalto's face practically light up as she disappeared, Dolphin couldn't help but think back to a long time ago. "...Just what did happen back then?" She shook her head and disappeared, going for the next town over.
It was easier to find chocolate than try to think about how Gaav and Zelas both were different just before Shabranigdo was reborn during the Koma Wars after all.

Xellos frowned as he looked around. This place was far quieter than the rest of the world was, but it was also incredibly... Depressing, violent, sad.
In other words, he loved it here. Though, he wasn't sure why everyone spoke such a weird language, or why their skin colors were completely dark, but it was a nice place to relax, if a bit sparse on things compared to the other places he had been already. As he walked into a village, he looked down as a small child tried to walk, only to fall down because of the incredibly small arms and legs couldn't support him. Looking around, Xellos frowned as something seemed wrong about the amount of hopelessness and depression.
It was almost as if none of these people had anything to hope for in the first place.
Xellos grimaced, such feelings were enjoyable, but in such quantities, with no good experiences, they could taint some Mazoku, even he might have had some problems with the emotions as they were. After all, if one didn't have any good emotions and only put out negative emotions, it was just no good.
Walking on, he just shook his head in disgust. Even the bandits back on his home world weren't this bad, even if some of them did give into the urge to rape women from time to time. Heck, killing off this whole village would probably be a mercy to them all.
As he came close to a rather nice looking house, Xellos found himself surrounded by armed men on all sides, pointing weapons of some sort at him. "Yes?"
"You're not from around here." One of them said slowly to him. "What are you? Some freedom fighter?"
"Why would I fight for freedom? I'm just a Mysterious Priest." Xellos said in their native tongue. It was actually a little difficult, but he was very thankful that he could learn how to speak languages easily. Reading them was a different story all together.
"Don't look like any priest I know." One of them said and Xellos just grinned at him.
"Oh yes, you see, I am affiliated with the Church of Shabranigdo under Lord Beastmaster." Xellos chuckled softly. That was such a fun religion back home, too bad that some of the members decided to try and make that Zannafar armor so often.
One of them snorted and jerked his weapon at Xellos. "I bet he's some sort of Westerner or something... He's no priest." He ignored the way Xellos' eye twitched slightly. "Even if he was a priest, he's not dressed like one and he probably isn't good at carrying out his duties."
"Yeah, and that "Beastmaster"? Ha! Probably just a crazy person."
Xellos' smile was tight as the men laughed at him. "Tell me something... Have any of you ever thought about becoming immortal?"
"See? Just a crazy person."
Xellos opened his eyes, his facial expression was grim. "You really think so, huh? Who's the leader among you?" The one in front of him jerked his gun. "Well then..." Xellos pointed at him. and just grinned. "Raugnut Rushavna."
The men wondered what he meant, until the leader started screaming as snakes poured out of his skin and started biting him, causing his flesh to start swelling tremendously. In a blind panic, the leader tried shooting at his body, until the snakes bit into his throat, his crotch and his face, causing them all to swell as his body became misshapen and grotesque.
"Shoot him! SHOOT!" The men started firing on their leader, trying to kill him.
"Well, I did tell you, didn't I?" Xellos grinned at all of them as his body started glowing purple. "I think... That you really shouldn't piss off a Mazoku." The men screamed as some of them were turned to stone, another one found himself unable to breath as small cones tore through his lungs, and others found the fluids in their bodies evaporating from intense heat from nowhere. "Oh dear, I guess I over-did it a little bit." Shrugging, he shattered the stone statues and took the hunk of flesh with him into the house.
"Who are you?!" A portly man asked as several men pointed their weapons at Xellos. The women in the room took off in sheer fright. "To come into my house and cause problems like that."
"Well..." Xellos smirked as he looked at the man. "You see, while I don't really care about you humans, you, however, are a poison..." He wondered if Lina rubbed off on him at all, before mentally shrugging it off. "You think only of yourself and can't see anything around you. It's interesting that I knew a young girl who was feared by everyone, and yet, despite how badly the world treated her at times, she had a heart larger than any I have ever seen in a human." He held up a finger and shook his head. "Guess I should stop remembering the past, I don't want to play with any of you anymore." Swinging his finger across his body, he started laughing as all the people in the room exploded into nothingness. The fear and pain that they all had before they died was just delicious.
Seeing the women peek out and scream at the blood and guts all over the walls, Xellos just laughed. "I wonder what you'll do now, all your masters are dead, their bodyguards as well..." He turned around and started to walk out. "And there's this village full of angry people... What will you do?"
"Thank you!" Xellos blinked as he turned to look at the women, most of whom were still trembling. "These... Pigs... Came to our village, stole all our food, drink, left most of us with scraps, and took us, as the most beautiful people of the village, as slaves. Thank you for saving us."
"Um... I didn't do it to save you or be nice." Xellos admitted and grumbled as he was ignored. At least the pain that the human who was suffering was still delicious. "They annoyed me."
Feeling the raw gratitude coming from them, Xellos shuddered and disappeared, nearly throwing up as he heard one of them call him an angel of mercy.
The words meant nothing to him, the emotions that were behind the words, however, did.

Wow, Xellos start to rise his own fan-club, group of zealots, church of worshipers...? Hm, i found a new trope - Unwanted Church That Worship You.
*shrug* What can I say? Sometimes I just have to get something out. It's not a great chapter, I don't think, but it moves the plot forward one more step.
1. It's cute that you think this is what I meant when I said I was going to do that.
2. They can't all be cliffhangers.
3. She's supposed to be disturbing!
4. ... ... well, it wasn't...
Reviews are reviews, where they are doesn't matter too much. Both! Both! Praise Me!
... How can Ammy not be disturbing?
First she was funny but now she's extremely disturbing. It's one thing to have hints of her homicidal I'm turned on by death/violence and hot women as a light seasoning or act to throw off your opponents but when you consistently have it shown over half a dozen chapters, well, you realize she means every single word she says well she stops being mildly whacked to 'oookay, yeah, depraved bisexual blood knight'. She has absolutely no compunction to killing red shirts that are virtually harmless to her. I pity the poor mage red shirt guy that got incinerated in the chapter, she could of at least burned him so quickly he couldn't feel the pain.
As I read the chapter I ended up with the feeling that out of all characters that I would like to see dead, Precia and Amaterasu top the list.

I'm not completely happy with it, honestly, and I'm sure there are... oh so many problems with it. I'm kind of in an off-mood at the moment. But hey, at least I got something written, right?
I'm *finally* caught up with Infinity (not to imply that it was a mission - quite the contrary) and have recovered enough from the awesomeness to actually comment:
Spoiler for spoiler-ish:
This is probably going to be a bit out of order because I read 27 chapters in one sitting.
Generally:
Your action scenes are actually a joy to read - they're descriptive without being overbearing, and giving the audience some insight into the combatant's thoughts makes it an intelligent fight. Except when they're just trying to beat the tar out of each other with brute force, in which case it obviously needs less tactic and planning. That works too, because the ones doing it are the ones we expect to do it.
I won't say the plot is entirely unpredictable, but there were definitely elements in there that made me smile - like the use of Lindy against Precia.
One thing that seemed a little odd was how shocked the upper echelon was (at Lindy's hearing/personal report session) at the idea that subterfuge was a built in function. Afterall, they'd already suspected that their *fleet* was compromised from the bottom up. That is a grand scale, considering what checks must go into piecing a ship together. It also pointed rather clearly at the BlackOps existing from the very beginning. But perhaps they were just reeling from the feeling of betrayal and really did not want to admit what they guessed was very likely true.
What I like most is the lightness of your tone throughout and the quirky snappy dialogue. In fact I think I managed to not skip any paragraphs, which I do inevitably when chasing the plot. I guess that is because for me, it's not the overaching plot that I find most interesting, but the little bits in between. Now that, is special.
Character-wise:
I like what you do with everyone teasing Nanoha on her befriending, or 'helping people's problems solve themselves'.
ReinZwei is and will always be far too chipper for me not to gnash my teeth together whenever she pops up. That is entirely not your fault.
Signum is a little colder than I remember, but it makes sense because they only *just* got befriended.
Arf. YES. More please.
Ammy - mixed feelings about this one. I got the feeling from the start that she really did mean the things she says, which is kind of creepy, but no less awesome. Then when she goes all cold and dead-eyed, I start wondering how much she *isn't* saying. Which is also creepy, considering her swings from 'pervert' to 'homicidal'... is that a hint of necrophilia? lol. It's good to see that she has a 'business' side too, otherwise she'd just be a rampaging maniac that no sensible ruler would have accepted for a guardian.
Tsukuyomi - Nanoha NEEDS her there to keep her befriending in perspective. The recent almost-breakthrough-ending-in-disaster? Perfect.
Susanoo - mm, feels just like another hot-headed over protective older brother. It's nice that there's a 'good guy' on the enemy's side, but I feel Fate's pain and wishes they could just...fight. I don't particularly like or dislike the guy.
Enlil - frankly hard to judge from so little exposure so far. But I like the scheming, all-powerful type, so I'm guessing I'll like her.
Precia - I hope she finds Al Hazard.
Last note:
The scene with Megane dropping by the library? Totally evil. The hints at who Lulu's father was? BEYOND evil.
And I so would do fanart except I still am not sure what the siblings *look* like...it's strange.
That was...strangely satisfying. I really *shouldn't* be rooting for these guys so much, but, hell, I like them, so much that I've run out of ways to say so. Even Ammy. If she had pulled a Cypha here, hell I'd probably be fine with it; she's certainly skilled enough to earn such a feat.
As for the sudden ex machina, I'm alright with that, too. Hell, if it's Fair Play for the Bureau to send in a squad that outnumbers them more than double, and more reinforcements on the side, I don't see why them suddenly powering up shouldn't be. If the Wolkenritter hadn't pulled a similar rescue, they'd probably all be dead by now.

Spoiler for I enjoy spoilers!:
For the general comments I just have a big ol' thank you! I'm glad that you enjoy the writing so much, both the action and my general tone. And yes, the plot is a bit predictable, but that's intentional... I was very much aiming for a traditional 'high action' Nanoha story with sympathetic villains and huge explosions and friendship all over the place.
Character Notes:
I enjoy teasing Nanoha.
Always more Arf. Always.
Amaterasu has been a complex, confusing character for me a lot of the time because I'm not quite certain how evil to make her. But yes, she is most certainly, definitely, not a good person. She genuinely loves her brother and sister, and she's genuinely loyal to her master. Those are about her only really good qualities. I plan to flesh her out considerably in future chapters, show why she is the way she is; maybe this will alleviate some of the confusion that surrounds her.
Tsuku is likewise more complex than I originally meant to make her... she's not a bad person. She's weird, and used to being alone, and doesn't handle emotions well. Nanoha's character analysis of her is pretty much dead on: she's just very used to not caring. And so when she started to care and felt 'betrayed'...
Susa seems to be a hit-or-miss character. Everyone either thinks he's the most awesomest person ever or wish he'd just shut up. And... frankly, that's what I was aiming for. He's brash, and fun-loving, and a generally nice guy but also sort of annoying. He'd be great at a party, but lousy to have to a quiet dinner.
As for the fanart thing, I'm sorry about that... I intentionally left their descriptions kind of vague, because I enjoy the thought that everyone will come up with their own image of what they look like. Half the fun of literature is making these images in your mind, and I don't like to be overly detailed and force my own onto the readers. So go ahead and fanart away if you want to... your own image is as good as the next, and I'd be curious to see how your imaginings compare to mine!

Spoiler for I also like running gags!:
Hee hee hee. I can always count on you to root for the villains, huh? Well that's good, just makes me sure I've kept them in the realm of likability.
And as I mentioned... the ex machina is part of my Grand Scheme. Oh, my yes.
While Material-S went off to prepare something to eat for the both of them from Rai’s newly acquired fridge, Yuuno quietly checked in on the others. The first room he checked was Material-D’s and she looked like she was still sleeping. It was a bit unusual for her to be sleeping such long hours but then again, she had been awake for quite some time.
The next visit would be to Material-L’s quarters. Seikou had informed him earlier that the Combat Cyborg was currently unable to move her body and was staying in Rai’s room as well due to her being a compatible master for the blue book that the Fate replica found earlier. He was uncertain what to expect from that latest turn of events. So he braced himself before he entered the room…
“Wiggle your big toe.”
He paused for a moment when he heard Sette say that softly. “Say what?” Another peek showed him that Rai was using the other woman’s stomach as a makeshift pillow and was snoring away. And speaking of the Combat Cyborg, her footwear had been placed to the side which left her feet bare.
“Wiggle your big toe,” repeated Sette to herself before her one visible eye directed itself towards Yuuno. “Is there something I can help you with, Yuuno?”
He stepped into the room, taking care to keep his guard up. “Um… just what are you doing?”
“I am beginning to regain motor functions. Material-L had suggested working with the toes first before gradually trying to move any other limbs and used that phrase to get me to focus.”
“Any luck?”
There was a pause before she responded. “I have been able to move the big toe on my left foot by two millimetres.”
He chuckled to himself a little. “I guess that means the hard part’s over.”
“Affirmative.”
“So how’s things…?” Ugh, why did he have to ask something so stupid? Thankfully, she didn’t point it out and answered him normally.
“If you are inquiring about the activation of the Azure Grimoire, then it is going well although I am puzzled at the absurd amount of time it is taking to set itself up. Or are you inquiring if I will resume my old mission to carry out the Doctor’s goals?”
“Yes, that thought did cross my mind. That and what you and Rai have been up to while I was tending to Seikou.” At least she seemed calm, which was good. If she was more like Wendi, well… He wasn’t sure what he could do if that was the case.
“Ah. I am no longer associated with the Doctor, nor would I care to carry out any missions of his. As for Material-L, she talked about…” Her mind briefly went back to some of the unusual nonsensical ramblings of the Fate replica.
“So I hear this crazy thing that me, Seikou-chan and Yami-chan are gonna return in the next game and I was like ‘COOL’! Cuz maybe this time, instead of being restricted to one player vs CPU mode and being all SNK Boss like, we can be nerfed enough to be playable, God Tier characters for PvP matches! I just hope those Original Generation characters are interesting enough too because it would suck if we had to cream the same nine canon characters again! Or maybe they’ll toss in new canon characters? Yeah, that would be cool too! Maybe I‘ll actually get to kick that pale imitation of myself around this time! Maybe they‘ll get me a better voice actress too! Sure, Nana‘s good at singing, but she sounds way too old to voice young girls.”
“… many, many things until she finally decided to take a nap.”
“I… see.” Honestly, he wasn’t certain just how truthful she was being but he decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. After all, he regularly worked with some of the other Numbers and they were all good hearted young women. Even if Wendi was loud and Nove could be irritable, he found them to be good people, Cinque and Dieci were pleasant when they stopped by the library. Sadly, however, he had yet to really get to know any of Sette’s sisters outside of when they needed information.
Still… As he looked at her, he got the impression that if her sisters could become good people, then why couldn’t she? Heck, barring certain… Incidents with them, the Materials weren’t that bad of people.
At least he thought so.
But, why did his head hurt if he thought about it for too long?
“I wonder if I can help her. Like how I was helped during my rehabilitation.”
He blinked in surprise when he heard such a thing come out of Sette’s mouth. “You want to help her? Why?”
“I too asked that question to my doctor upon one of our early interviews after my surgery. He replied… ‘Do I need a reason to help someone?’ It was the first time I heard something like that. And for a moment, I felt oddly warm.” Her one visible eye glanced at the sleeping blue haired young woman. “The gestures of kindness that were extended to me that gradually changed me over the years… I want to do the same for her. And maybe she can change for the better as well.”
“That’s… easier said than done.” There was no doubt that Rai certainly had an ‘interesting’ mind. “You could be looking at a lifetime of work in order to have her settle down and live a normal life.”
“That’s fine by me,” replied Sette softly. “If that is the condition, then I accept this life mission.”
“Has Rai really become someone of value to you that quickly?”
“I do not think that is the case. It may simply be a matter of paying it forward…” She paused for a moment. “I believe that is how the expression is used.”
“The concept of asking that a good turn be repaid by having it done to others instead?”
“Yes. Once, I had asked what would be an appropriate way to thank my caretakers for the work they had done for my case and they simply asked that I pay it forward. This would be a good opportunity to carry out their wishes.”
“If that’s what you sincerely plan to do, then maybe…” Already, thoughts were flying through his head on how this could be used as part of their defending arguments.
“Yuuno-san, dinner is ready,” called out the voice of Material-S
“I’ll have to give this some thought. In the meantime, I better leave you alone to concentrate on getting your other piggies wiggling,” said the Librarian.
“I would like to ask for a quick favour. Can you please move Material-L to another bed? She’s drooling on my torso.”
“Uh… sure.” Just as he approached the Fate replica, he heard a demented giggle escape her lips.
“Yes, Barbie… give it to that G.I.Joe dude up the butthole... even if it's very, very, wrong, it’s very, very funny…” Weary red eyes slightly opened as Material-L emerged from her slumber. “Uhm... I wasn't dreaming anything too embarrassing, wasn't I?”
Both Yuuno and Sette stared at her before giving the same deadpan reply in unison. “Not by your standards.”
“Hehehehehe…”

1. It's cute that you think this is what I meant when I said I was going to do that.
Well no, you've made it clear back then that the event won't be happening soon (and you promised geometrically insane Al-Hazardi magic). It's just that I consider chapter 27 to be a glimpse to what is to come, and so far...tame~ Whoops, looks like I just made it even more grim for the good guys

No, no it was more like he had actually become lightning, in a strange way...
Not quite Raiten Taisou (Armationem+Khilipl Astrape), but the resemblance is uncanny.
And Ammy is still a creepy perverted witch, ergh Right now even Tsukuyomi (not this one, the other one) doesn't feel that...disturbing.
Where's Section Black in the midst of all this? And would Scaglietti became a part of this anytime soon?
As for the fanart thing, I'm sorry about that... I intentionally left their descriptions kind of vague, because I enjoy the thought that everyone will come up with their own image of what they look like. Half the fun of literature is making these images in your mind, and I don't like to be overly detailed and force my own onto the readers. So go ahead and fanart away if you want to... your own image is as good as the next, and I'd be curious to see how your imaginings compare to mine!

That looks really good! In fact, about the only difference in how I picture Susanoo myself is that I see him as looking younger. That smirk, in particular, is dead-on pitch-perfect. I love it!

Cute chapter overall but...uh, when are we going to see some action?
@Deso: You said middle door before saying B, so going with that, since C is actually middle. Blame me for weird letter designations.
Choice C has been chosen. The Middle Door. Wish her good luck.
Spoiler for Roadside Manor Part 4:
She shook her head and tensed up. She opened the middle door, from where the cry was originating. A small chamber revealed itself with a spiral staircase in the middle and three more doors to choose from. But they were all open, showing their contents and as far as Arisa could see, nothing dangerous awaited her within them.
She looked up, her eyes gliding along the spiral staircase until she saw the dome of glass high up in the ceiling. There was a platform there too, to which the staircase lead. She decided she might check it out after the other rooms were done.
First she went to the room on her left. Poking her head inside, she could see it was a study. Perhaps Sir Night’s study. She went inside.
Dust hang there, too, in the air. The place had been untouched for days as far as she could see. Books lay strewn out on the floor and on the two tables that littered the room. She flipped the pages in one. More Latin. More text she couldn’t understand. But there was a note beside one of them. She picked it up and saw it was written in English.
I can move on now. I found the solution to my problem. I just need another test subject. Anna proved to be splendid, but she didn’t last for long. Her evolution stopped just half-way. Damn it all! God is working against me! Do you hear me, God? Are you laughing at me? You bastard. I will overcome you! I will rise beyond your understanding!
If this was Night’s writing, Arisa could now decide once and for all that the man who had offered her the job wasn’t sane. From his writing she thought he might even be dangerous. She cursed herself for dropping the revolver. Maybe she could find more bullets later on, but they would be useless now.
She flung away the note and noticed a flashlight in a half-opened desk drawer.
“This might come in handy,” she mumbled to herself and picked it up. She tested it and a bright light shot out. “Working too.”
She put the small flashlight in her pocket and left the room, heading straight for the one on the other side.
It was the only one without working lights she noted. It was dark inside and she retrieved the flashlight. She lit it and let the beam fly over the objects inside the room. Nothing out of the ordinary there either. It just had a few boxes inside. That only left one more-
She heard something bang against the door from the laboratory. A heavy bang, throwing dust around from the old wooden door. A human couldn’t hit that hard. A human wouldn’t make an alien cry either. It echoed through the chamber and she froze, the flashlight still beaming. Her heart raced and sweat broke out over her back again. She didn’t know what to do. She was scared and lost. What the hell should she do?
A: Move forwards, into the middle door. Perhaps she can outrun it.
B: Hide in the room, wait for the ‘thing’ to pass.
C: Confront it. Maybe it’s scared of the light.
If there was one thing that Zafira could say that he learned in the aftermath of the JS Incident is that being on medical leave sucked big time.
He could understand Shamal’s reasons. After all, he had joined the last fight against Jail’s forces while still injured. As they were no longer connected to the Book of Darkness and depended on their Master as their life source, the Wolkenritter’s healing factor was not as it was before.
He was fine with that although that meant actually sticking with his doctor’s orders. And Shamal, being the mother hen of the group, made sure that everyone took the time to properly heal in the aftermath. The thing is that he had no official military rank and didn’t have to do any paperwork related to the incident. That meant he really didn’t have much to do to pass the time while the others were at work during the day.
Thoughts on where to steer his life continued to bother him. Ginga had mentioned needing a partner for investigations once she finished her work with the Numbers in their rehab program so there was one option. Or maybe he could start a martial arts school and teach children? The thought had some merit.
*BEEP**BEEP*
The sound of an incoming dimensional call interrupted his thoughts. A quick glance towards the display showed him that it was coming from Earth and there were only two people he knew that would be able to contact this world from Earth and connect to this number. “Yagami residence, Zafira speaking.”
The image of a young woman with short orange hair and green eyes popped up on the screen and was surprised to see a blue wolf answering her call. “Zafira…? Is Hayate-chan available?”
He recognized her immediately. Alisa Bannings, one of his Master’s close friends on Earth. “If you are looking for my Master, I am afraid that she is at work and will not be back until late in the evening. I can take a message if you would like.”
“I have to talk to her right away! Suzuka… she’s gone missing!” exclaimed Alisa.
“Missing? Can you explain?”
“She hasn’t reported to her usual classes and stuff and I can’t get a hold of her! It’s strange enough to get local police officers to visit the university campus! If Hayate-chan or Nanoha-chan were available, they could use some magic to easily find her!”
“I do not believe that will be as easy as you would like,” said Zafira in that calm tone of his. “Unless lost logia are involved, Bureau officers are not to interfere in the natural development of events on non-administered worlds. Besides, with the mounting piles of paperwork and reports that have to be completed due to our most recent investigation, it would be difficult for them to be able to obtain permission to transport back to your world and help find your friend. However…”
Alisa leaned forward eagerly. “Yes?”
“As I have no official commission with the Bureau, I am not bounded by such restrictions. If you like, I can-”
He never got a chance to finish. “If you can help me, that would be fine! Here are the transport coordinates to my backyard! When will you be able to come over and start investigating?”
“Within the hour if things go well. Two hours at most.” The queue to process dimensional transfer permissions shouldn’t be too long at this time of the year.
“Alright, I’ll wait for you! Thanks a lot!” That was all she said before she cut the transmission.
He took the time to erase the call from the phone logs. It would be better if the others didn’t something else to stress themselves over when there was still much work to do in the aftermath of the JS Incident. Next was to obtain the permission for transport which should be easy enough by getting it from his fellow Knight. Of course, he knew that she was going to want to know why he wanted to go to Earth so he would have to come up with a decent excuse.
**********
“I don’t mind writing up permission but why would you want to go to Earth, Zafira?” asked Shamal telepathically as she went about her rounds looking over the soldiers who sustained serious injuries from the Gadget Drones.
“Just felt a little nostalgic. I want to see some old sights and smell some familiar aromas of our first home.”
“Really? That doesn’t sound like you.” She really was puzzled by his sudden request.
“Who got you that autographed cook book?”
Now that really came out of nowhere. “Huh? What does that have to do with-”
“Who got you that autographed cook book?” repeated Zafira in that calm tone of his.
“… you.”
“Who convinced our Mistress to let you cook the family dinner on Tuesday nights?”
“You?”
“Who helped you practice for your road test?”
“You…”
“Who delivers ten times out of ten?”
She sighed in irritation at how difficult her fellow Knight was being. “Alright, I’ll forward you that permission slip. And if you wanted to keep your reasons private, you could have said so!”
I am looking forward to seeing where this goes, I like the premise and the way it's presented.

(---)
Poor Xellos, that must have hurt. As they say 'no good deed goes unpunished' I suppose it's literal in his case. I had an odd mental image of Xellos in a cape as a hero of justice. Also Dolphin desperately searching for chocolate amuses me.

Well at least they're making some kind of progress, even if it's only a few milimeters or so in the right direction. Material L has gained a sidekick who might just turn out to become a Morality Pet from now on...by design.

Heh, amusing chapter. It's good that Yuuno and Sette have talked and know where each other stand now.
@Deso: You said middle door before saying B, so going with that, since C is actually middle. Blame me for weird letter designations.
Oh, good, since that was what I meant. Blame me for not paying attention.
Quote:
Hm...I'm actually a little confused here. Something is trying to break into the laboratory from the way she came. Arisa took the middle door out of the laboratory, which led to a room with three more doors and the spiral staircase up. The left door out of the second room offered the flashlight, while the right door was dark and had various boxes. I presume you mean to hide in that room (since it's dark and unlike the spiral staircase room has boxes to hide behind). I also note that you do not offer the option to run away by going up the staircase (which might be an effective hiding strategy IRL as well, because people do not look up most of the time when prompted, instead thinking in 2D).
Well, my Clock Tower experience tells me to avoid C, since "confrontation" is usually the worst idea when the chaser comes after you, and the bang-on-the-square-button is strictly a last resort when you screw up. I'll go with B again since I do not know what's behind the "new" middle door or if it even offers somewhere to run. Let's hope this doesn't end with one of those endings where Scissorman stabs right through the wardrobe door into your hiding place...

Oh Yuuno, if you knew everything, defending arguments would be the least of your worries...
I do hope they won't get sidetracked on another planet again however. Unless the reason is Hückebein.
