^Yeah. I think it's an "image" to force the enemy to offer something different, something Canute actually wants; not necessarily that the "face" is his "real" self. I don't think he's aiming to extract more pithy wealth from the already broken Mercia. That's far too petty a thing for a man who denounced God and declared his intention to establish a Kingdom of Man on Earth to do.

Although I do miss the old bishounen prince. Is it just me or the author offered a subtle commentary on the horrible state of Medieval dental hygiene with the condition of the former pretty boy's teeth?

I like the similarity and contrast between Thorfinn and Canute in regards to their Viking culture.

Here Canute saw raping, pillaging and slaving he immediately had those responsible heads cut off.

When Thorfinn saw a girl being raped in front of him he doesn't like it but he wont stop them either. He declined participating in the gang rape. The girls's eyes pleading that he save her. He can't change anything even if he killed those bastards. Its how his culture works.

Canute on the otherhand is in a position for policy and to outlaw such crimes. Going against traditional Viking culture. But he isn't above terror tactics.

The author sometimes takes breaks too.

Hox will surely scanlate as soon as new material comes out, in the meantime you can go this blog and check out the other series he is translating.

How? It hasn't even been 10 chapters since the prologue ended. I think it just seems so long because the chapters release so slowly. But I'd rather have a nice fleshed out return of Thorfinn then have it quick and half assed.

I thought it's been longer than that... almost been a year since this arc started. You're right, it's because the chapters are released slowly, but also because they don't have a lot of pages lately. That's why it seems so slow to me.

Not only did Yukimura Makoto get sick, his wife gave birth last month, so he had to take a break for a while. Last I heard, everything is fine now and the manga should be back next month.

A lot of "monthly" seinen are plagued by short chapters and late releases. =(

Fullmetal Alchemist easily had the best record of any monthly serialization. Always on time, and always at least 30 pages.

Loved the way he blackmailed that guy to poison the king and then later his son. Thorkell seems very displeased with Canute's methods, he'll probably turn on him soon.
