Bit of a joke theory (I haven't read EP6 btw):
As we know, Umineko deconstructs the mystery Genre. Battler, the detective, coming to a family meeting on a secluded island is just tempting fate.... Battler's Sin. One of the genre savvy characters was like "Oh, crap, we have a detective, this is just tempting fate! Perhaps if we fake a murder with enough bravado we can prevent this." Unfortunately it didn't. The end |

So it makes sense that one way Yasu would use to try to get Battler to remember their time reading mystery novels is to... stage a mystery for him. |

Jokes aside, I don't see how Shannon choosing George (or Jessica) would represent her using 900 tons of explosives. A game was supposed to take place, even if Battler didn't show up, and had he not shown up, it seems nothing big would have happened. If we assume that there would still have been a love trial, then I don't see how Yasu deciding for either George or Jessica would have meant her blowing up the island.

When episodes 5 and 7 came out the opening was out soon after the game was announced. It's likely that the opening for episode 7 was the final one. And it did a good job summarizing most of the series so I'm not complaining.
