Bit of a joke theory (I haven't read EP6 btw):

As we know, Umineko deconstructs the mystery Genre. Battler, the detective, coming to a family meeting on a secluded island is just tempting fate.... Battler's Sin.

One of the genre savvy characters was like "Oh, crap, we have a detective, this is just tempting fate! Perhaps if we fake a murder with enough bravado we can prevent this." Unfortunately it didn't.

The end

Yeah if Battler was a known amateur detective it might have been a good joke end. But Battler was thrust into the position without noticed.

I'd question this assumption to be honest. It feels like a long essay on it rather than a deconstruction.

The term 'Deconstruction' is tossed around in a highly profligate manner these days, the only true deconstructing going on in Umineko so far was with Erika.

Actually, EP7 did talk about how Battler and Shannon (i.e. Yasu), when they used to meet privately were trading and discussing detective novels. Yasu did read a lot by herself but it was said that she ended up exhausting Kumasawa's (hint! hint!) novels. So Battler started bringing some books from off the island since she couldn't leave to get some herself. (??!??! why? What, a day trip isn't even allowed? etc.)

So it makes sense that one way Yasu would use to try to get Battler to remember their time reading mystery novels is to... stage a mystery for him.

The context of my post was that a detectives are usually near a place a murder, thus kinda inviting it. By known amateur detective I mean something of the likes of Miss Marple who although doesn't fit the traditional detective mold like Holmes or Poirot, is still known be a great sleuth.

Haha... She went for the "Fat Man"?
Jokes aside, I don't see how Shannon choosing George (or Jessica) would represent her using 900 tons of explosives. A game was supposed to take place, even if Battler didn't show up, and had he not shown up, it seems nothing big would have happened. If we assume that there would still have been a love trial, then I don't see how Yasu deciding for either George or Jessica would have meant her blowing up the island.

George continually talks about how he's willing to make the whole world his enemy and how he'd kill everyone to be with Shannon if he had to. Do the math.

We have some screenshots and it's portrait picture, and we know it's going to be called Twilight of the Golden Witch, and that it's coming out on the 31st. Aside from that, nothing.

I hope the intro "leaks" a week before the game comes out just to drum hype up

When episodes 5 and 7 came out the opening was out soon after the game was announced. It's likely that the opening for episode 7 was the final one. And it did a good job summarizing most of the series so I'm not complaining.

Yeah he hinted it on a blog post I think, he said there might be choices that lead to a possible bad end and the like.

Yeah, considering we knew this wouldn't have a happy ending at the end was pretty much a given. The possibility of a happy or bittersweet ending is leagues better than we would have expected.
