Ougi Formula is actually a part of Owarimonogatari novel. It was just published earlier as a preview.

No. Koyomimonogatari is still canon to the whole event that had happened, and it is made to fill the gap left in between the previous novels. The last two stories in Koyomimonogatari are the actual developing plot to the series, to be precise.

Most probably (or so) Ougi Dark is the sub-title for the second volume of Owarimonogatari. Never actually finish reading the whole Ougi Formula though but from what I have understand from ultimate_noob's synopsis, the story was made to tell the event which will lead us to the real mastermind of the whole kaii genshou...uh... apparition phenomenons...

I finally finished reading Ougi Formula. I was skeptical of all these side stories, but Ougi Formula is surprisingly a good read. I am just perplexed at the introduction of a new character, but all the rest makes sense and was well written. By the way, there are 41 pages, but they would be worth twice as much if they were printed in a book format. All the three chapters of Ougi Formula, Sodachi Riddle and Sodachi Lost put together will probably constitute the first volume of Ougi Dark.

Btw, Ougi is truly a goddess

Hmmm I'm actually a Gaen fan. Kinda love her lots. Ougi doesn't do much for me.

now we know the reason why Ougi hit Araragi on their first meeting: in an attempt to get out from the room, Ougi resorted to gastric acid, so she told Araragi to get close to the door and then suddenly hit him in the stomach. She later explained that she thought that Araragi was the type that rather than having a girl spews gastric acid he would do it himself, and Araragi to mantain his dignity as a senpai had to agree.

Aside from this she tends to call him a fool, but she also wrapped her arms around his neck like a muffler and whispered in his ear. She is constantly messing with him, but without appearing necessarily evil or ill-minded.

I've had the impression that the new characters were kind of dopplegangers of other characters. It stands to reason that Gaen has similarities on Hanekawa because Oshino said Hanekawa reminded him of his senpai, but Ononoki has also become the new Hachikuji, and Kaiki was the new Meme. I thought Ougi was meant to be the new Nadeko, but in Ougi Formula she kind of behave like Senjougahara. The difference is that she is not romantically interested in Araragi, so her disdain for Araragi is meant to be just disdain, she just need to not appear overly hostile.

Can someone provide a detailed summary of Koyomimonogatri? I can't seem to find on in this forum and C.E's site doesn't have a review up either.

The comparisons and contrasts are there since the two nise books came out. Though I think Yozuru is Senjougahara's double because violence. Ougi is Nisio's double because playing with the characters and fourth wall, and Tadazuru is Kanbaru's counterpart because both are against the flow.

No idea on Sodachi. Maybe Nadeko? Sodachi from the past, Nadeko from the future?

Kanbaru got already a double in Numachi. Anyway, it was just an impression, you don't need to take it to the extreme.
