recommendations for a newbie

Hiya, I'm new to the forum and I was just wondering if anyone had any anime that they recommend me watch, I'm in the mood for watching a comedy/romance drama kind of thing lol o.O I guess something like Honey and Clover or Clannad :]

Uh... first thing: Recommendations are usually found in the Suggestions forum, where this message is supposed to belong. Don't make a new topic over there, though. A moderator will take care of it.

That being said, If you're looking for romance drama, start with Shakugan no Shana (produced by the same company who did Honey and Clover) and work from there. Alternatively, if you like Clannad over Honey and Clover, you may want to start with Kanon (2006) instead.

Ehh, don't watch Shakugan no Shana for its romance or drama... produced by the same company or not, its nothing like H&C.

You might try Nodame Cantabile or Kanon (2006).

For some romance more "light hearted" in tone, check out REC. It's really short (9 episodes, 12 mins. long each), and is also very sweet.

My mainstay recommendation romantic comedy (not comedy-romance) is:
Lovely*Complex (hilarious)
Mahoraba: Heartful Days (quietly very funny with quirky personalities)
REC

The other items I can think of are licensed:
Karin (a few dark moments)
Tsukuyomi Moon Phase (some very dark moments)

The other guys already recommended other ones I can think of easily.

If you like Honey and Clover, then I usually recommend Nodame Cantabile and KimiKiss, as all three AFAIK not only is animated by the same company, but done by the same director. If you really like comedy, then I go even further and recommend Potemayo.

If you like Clannad, then Kanon and Air are at least worth a view, as they originate from the same company. Maybe even try other visual novel adaptations, like say Final Approach or Comic Party, as both have elements of romance/drama/comedy.

If you like Clannad, Kanon (2006) would appeal greatly to you. REC is also a good recommendation.

i just finished watching all of kanon today, i watched it non-stop over the weekend (no life hehe) man it was great! my avatar is the snow bunny from the series :]

i'm not sure which one to move on from now, but at least i have these great choices to pick from, from you guys :] thanks a bunch

I don't know, if you started off with Kanon 2006, you may be disappointed with some of the other ones we suggested - I don't think anything tops Kanon in terms of storyline (disregarding my Shana bias)
