Shoji Kawamori as producer, and all Gundams will be transformable!

Or even better, Shoji Kawamori in his over-potted, crack state. Featuring Gundams with happy-faces and a guy chasing after space penguins endlessly...

Oh, and lots of neon lights!

Expect a super stylish and awesome take on Gundam, except that it might feature an episodic storyline instead of a long-running war story like most Gundams. Which isn't a problem to me honestly since there is an over-arching plot for Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop.

But wow Shinichiro Watanabe as director would bring so much to the table. Too bad that'll never happen.
Oh well, I'm just posting the recent rumour on internet right now.

Its not too far fetched considering Watanabe involved in Stardust Memory before.

I like them, even if they are just fanart and not legit. Very good work.
Awe man this one is really nice

I hope this new series is not another homo shows and fancy shinny Gundam with a unimportant battles, its been 20 years they should have stopped making pretty boy face and the female characters should have strong development roles with a proper stories.

I'd watch where you throw the word homo around, ya asshat. Some might not take it too lightly. As for the show "supposedly" being that way by your all powerful and mighty insight, do share how it is supposedly this way.

"Should have" and "what sells" are two different things. What the West wants doesn't always correlate to what sells in Japan, the native audience, remember.

So why do people fight, anyway?
Perhaps the meaning of existence lies within their will to fight.
People feel a sense of accomplishment through battle.
And it’s also a fact that the ones actually fighting are never perceived as being tainted.

Well, Watanabe was a lowly Sunrise grunt at that time... Now he's not.

But still, he'd be a good choice if Sunrise were targeting the overseas audience so there's nothing stopping them from bringing him back as a freelancer... Not sure if Bandai feels the same though.

i agree with everything you said.
and yeah, a show is usually designed for a specific target audience. if you are not part of that... well, tough luck! XD

Aaaaah, an excuse for me to take over this forum again ^^...

I've been wanting Shinichiro Watanabe to be chosen as a Gundam Director for 10 years...It would be a dream to have a Gundam show thru his eyes, thru his musical choices, thru his unchallenged genre-bending techniques...

The fact that he's actually rumored to be the director will make the eventual butthurt worse T_T...

Stylistic Gundam show done to rhythmic Jazz is a damn lottery ticket...I'll hang it on a refrigerator magnet, for alltime...

Seems like most people remember him from Samurai Champloo and/or Cowboy Bebop...

Funny, I thought the way he handled Macross Plus was superb...

Sound like the problem isn't how you choose your words, but how you view the series.

Obviously (The Best Animatrix Short too), but go deeper...Go and google an interview or 2 with him, see how his mind works then you'd understand why he's so outstanding even when he's only done a few works...He's meticulous about his work choices and refuses to devote any time to projects devoid of true soul (His works that is)...He's all about freestyle, bending genres, and artistic soul (Mostly found through music)...

While Mushizima brought Gundam to a new place theoretically, Watanabe would skyscape Gundam into a new realm stylistically and thematically...Nothing would get me more excited, but life ain't fair...

Gundam is dead. First Hino ruins Dragon Quest and the games industry. Now he aims to ruin Gundam and the anime industry. Well it shouldn't be too hard for him, since the anime industry is ruining itself anyway.

Oh god, first Kamen Rider, now Gundam. Seriously?

Did Hino even get the memo about what Gundam is even remotely supposed to be about?

Hmmm. Interesting. It looks like there it's aimed at younger audiences.
And it looks like it's within super robot territory. I guess this will shut the "realists" up.

I would have been fine with the concept itself as a short OVA, much like Gunpla Builders. As a full length TV anime though... I'm not sure how I feel about this
