Ep 45 has aired! Is anyone else feeling EXTRA rabid after a FMA-less week?

I think we can assume from the title, and what she's had the sins do, that Dante is NOT a nice person...

A brief summary

Spoiler:

A little bit is revealed about Hohenheim and Dante's past which goes back 400 years ago. Hohenheim had been creating philosopher stones at that time by sacrificing human lives. That is how Dante and Hohenheim had the ability to transfer their souls to new bodies and live forever. Dante could not create a Philosopher stone by herself without the help of Hohenheim that is why she has been manipulating the homunculus to find a way to the Philosopher stone.
Sloth shows up and Hohenheim is startled for moment with just enough time for her to hold him. Lyra then uses Rose's baby to open the gate and Hohenheim becomes sacrificed. Is he dead, who knows?
The baby is fine but we don't know what happened for sure.

Roy Mustang is starting to uncover the real truth. He knows that the military is corrupt and the war in Ishbahl was deliberately started to try and create the Philosopher's stone.

Edward dyes his hair black(which looks alot better imo) to conceal his identity, Al is also cast inside a statue.
He goes to meet Izumi and asks her for the body part of her deceased child(to kill wrath).
Alphonse meets Tucker in which it is revealed that Nina is alive.

It looks like he did die as a sacrifice or something, I don't think anyone can survive being wholly consumed by the gate?

Not really sure how I feel about this new episode and what it revealed :/

Well, Al did, didn't he? Wrath did too, though the rules might be different for Homunculus. Either way, it seems odd that this is the last we'd see of Hohenheim.

Maybe Hohenheim was sacrificed to regain Dante's body? After all it has to be equialant trade...

....Hmm, it seems like Roze is still alive although I have no idea how long that state of affairs may last since Dante seems to have the intention of making Roze her next body...She says 'motto tabenai' and even gives Roze her dress to wear (checking size?) -_-

Man, if the fighting doesn't starts soon, i have no idea how they're going to wrap up this series in another 7 episodes. They would have to kill a sin once at least every episode.

And sloth...is kinda flat. She seems to have 0 to no personality at all, which surprises me since Lust and Greed have such great personalities.

i unno...it seems like dante nd hohenheim were at their limit remember?..possible that she's tryin to get rid of his body, b4 he can help her...dunno..it seems weird...he wasnt trying to kill her...

I'd realli hate it if Hohenheim is gone this way. He was probably one of the most, if not THE most, mysterious and anticipated character throughout FMA for mani mani fans. Mani hoped he would contribute alot to the whole plot. But on the other hand, FMA is near ending, so I guess there's onli so much that he can do. I dun think this is the last of him though. I think he will probably appear again in the final showdown or something.

Hmm, it would be strange to get rid of Hohenheim without mentioning his relationship to Envy.

Some thoughts on Ep.45...

...I doubt we've seen the last of Hohenheim, though perhaps he deserves his fate for creating the Philosopher's Stone in the first place.

Hmm...so Ed's planning on rounding up Humonculus body parts. I didn't think there was anything left of Izumi's child. Good to see her again though, hopefully she'll play a role in the remaining episodes.

Roy seems to have a plan to expose Juliet Douglas and ultimately the Fuhrer, but will Pride let him live that long?

From the Ep.46 preview, Envy is back, perhaps we'll find out what he's been up to then. Lust and Ed having a chat too, wonder if she's now about to turn her back on Dante now that she's knows the truth?

Hmm... I have to say the plot in the anime falls apart more and more by each episode now...

so Dante and Hohenheim are indeed lovers... yup so my theory that Envy being half-brother to Ed and Al is possible. Maybe Envy is the first homunculus, being created by Hohenheim (the creator of first homunculus) when his son with Dante died?

But the thing is, why and when Hohenheim left Dante? It seems he left Dante for several hundred years, so it's not that he dumped Dante for Trisha...

So Hohenheim belongs to the monotheist religion mentioned in the previous episode? It said something like there was a Witch Hunt/Inquisition kind of things, and Hohenheim used the accused people as materials for the philosopher's stone.

I don't think Hohenheim died, Wrath lived inside the Gate for a long time, I guess when Tucker or whoever performed a human transmutation and opened the gate the next time, Hohenheim can come out

Hm... so what's inside the Gate? I now think it sounds like the source of souls, Dante said the Gate exists inside people. so maybe that's the place where all souls of dead people go to, and all souls of newborn come from.

I think what dnmt said is the best way to summerize the last few episodes... they have 7 episodes to finish off this series. The next few should be great. Lets hope they do it right.

...6 episodes left according to Newtype September, so even less time to wrap it all up.

I don't agree with dmnt's comment, Ep.45 left me feeling bewildered too, but I'll wait until Ep.51 has aired before passing judgement on the plot as a whole.

I guess that's because he feels guilty towards Dante... and Trisha... and maybe all those people he sacrificed before...

Apparently he WAS in love with Dante, but later dumped her, and he love Trisha a lot, but again he "dumped" her. I guess he somewhat felt guilty that he "cheated" the two women who loved him...

I guess if you feel guilty towards the enemies you are fighting against, then you are doomed to lose right from the start... Dante totally blame Hohenheim for leaving her, while Hohenheim doesn't seem to have any will to kill Dante anyway, so this result is kinda expected.

I have to say that Lust is currently one of the most well-developed and "human" characters in the show. maybe even more "human" than Hohenheim and Tucker... Somehow I don't want to see her die now...
