I'm not really sure how to take these events in... because there's zero context whatsoever, I can't really determine whether these developments are good or not. At least in respect to the possible end with Kirino. Assuming he does get with Kuroneko, I can't imagine how Kirino would react. I mean, what with the America arc and various snippets of how dependent Kirino is on Kyousuke.

Oh lord, my heart isn't ready for any other end.

Did the author say that he won't go over 10 volumes?

KuroNeko told Kyosuke once (I believe it was in volume 5 when they were working on the Kuso game) that she loves him about as much as Kirino does when Kyosuke asks if she like him? But he dismissed it because he still thought at time that at best, Kirino's feeling of him was that of indifference.

If the spoiler is correct, it seems Kirino broke down in chapter 4 and since Kuroneko pretty much became Kyosuke's new confident in vol 5. It's not of blue for Kyosuke to meet Kuroneko and talk about the situation and have that conversation pops up to lead it to confession.

I'm Kyosuke x Kuroneko fan, but I have to agree, in these types of stuff, the first girl always loses out unless she was the de-fecto heroine. I really hope the relation stands, the x factor here is really Minami who is closest girl to Kyosuke even if Kyosuke only treats her as a grandma/healing figure. Personally I wouldn't mind to have Kyosuke x Ayase if Kuroneko didn't work out. That is my secondary pairing. Besides Kyosuke already have shown to have a crash and softspot to Ayase and based on spoiler pic, it seems that their relation have improve even further. (thought it shows some hint of Ayase being a S)

Anyway, it does looks like the series might end in a volume or two if Kirino really did have that emotional breakdown.

It sucks that I might have to wait at least a couple month to get the Chinese version off Taiwan Kadokawa since my Japanese isn't strong enough to read the originals. Here hope the Chinese subbimg group will translate fast enough so it can tie me over until the licensed release.

My copy will be arriving in about 2-3 days, so I can confirm then, but according to the previously posted p.294-5, Kuroneko is the one who called him out, in order to "remove the curse".

The way she does it is super cute...and Kyosuke's reaction (i.e. what he describes it as), is spot-on too.

Not sure if my memory is correct, but from what I remember it goes like this.
1) Kyosuke asks Kuroneko if she likes him when they're making the kuso game
2) Kuroneko gives a "report" and a curse for Kyosuke to chase his sister(V5C3)
3) Kyosuke wonders about the true meaning of the curse(Guess he's not dumb with girls other than Manami and Kirino) and tries to ask Kuroneko about it but never gets the chance for him to ask properly.
4) Kyosuke calls Kirino to ask her how much she likes him and Kirino avoided the question by scolding him.

@Undertaker: With the track record of the chinese subbing team and the controversy for this volume, I believe the whole volume will be translated in 1 week time.

I just double checked vol 5, that conversation is indeed during the kuso game, but the curse actually happen later on toward the end of volume, after the kuso game stuff were dealt with.[Kyosuke's America visit was surprisingly short, I would have swear it covers the whole chapter but it was not even half of the chapter.]

after some tracking up in 2ch, my impression is, looks like Kirino really IS seeing Kyousuke more as a guy than just a brother. that makes her confession on 6th was a real one, which only make things sad for her IMO. because looks like Kyousuke doesnt even realize her feeling. well, that's a normal response, for a sister.
we still have to read the actual novel, I hope it wasnt right.
(I'm in for Kirino end, just for the sake of the title )

Seriously, for the people who thinks vol8 is the last, I honestly doubt it. Let's not look at the plot but simply the length. Even Toradora which I consider short for a light novel had 10 books. I expect at least a few more.

Well, it's obvious Kirino has serious brother-complex, and I believe the author was setting it up with the introduction of Sena in volume 5...

Anyway, I re-read the series...

Other than it's obvious that he just treats Kirino as his little sister and spoil her, he really is a dense guy. His view on all the girls are ambiguous. He likes Ayase's look, Minami's personality, Saori's caring, and KuroNeko's awkwardness. While I do think KuroNeko got tons of points built up in volume 3 and 5, which is why I can see how the spoiler in volume 7 can happen, I really fear for the longevity of that relation. I really would love to see the KuroNeko end. On the other hand, with all the flags and how the way the series seems to construct like a Galge, I secretly hopes for a "endings" volume where reader can just pick out the endings they like with KuroNeko being true end, Ayase as happy end, Kirino the dark end and Sena being the bad end

I should read it first (I'm just wondering if the writing style will put me off, as the English translation of the first volume certainly did), but another reader has said that the "marry me" thing with Ayase came off more as a joke - it's like Kyosuke's way of dealing with her or something.

Looking at the spoilers we have to Kyosuke x Kuroneko so far, I'd say that the author would stick with this if he's going for a realistic ending, (well, her or Manami, because they're the ones he's gotten to know best) - the vibe that comes from their interactions is really quite sweet, IMHO.

Or course, if he wants to satisfy the wincest crowd, there's only one possible ending...

Only OreImo 7. I was pretty surprised to get the email, but they apparently sent it today. And from recent experience, it takes just 2-3 days to get here for some reason...(The other items will come in 3 separate packages, one within about 10 days, the others when the relevant items are released.)

It's hard to know or sure. Not all authors want to work on one series or their entire career ala Full Metal Panic or Shakugan no Shana.

But all authors want to earn money. Now when the story becomes a potential good cash cow not many authors would opt to kill their little money cow so fast. Be reasonable - I doubt you would do that yourself either.

I don't really see OreImo continuing past the resolution of its relationship stuff though.

So with things on that front coming to a head, either it's done soon, or things get stupidly reset and dragged out. Which might not ruin the series, but would certainly be disappointing and likely result in at least some drop in quality.

Or maybe I'm wrong, and things can waver in a 'unfinished' state for a while. Maybe we'll get a few novels of this new state of affairs before things hit the fan. (I highly doubt KN 'wins' in the end, given her early victory.)

The author is doing two series though, not just Oreimo.

As for how long Oreimo will last... it's certainly not going to go longer than 2 volumes, in my opinion. Not unless the author wants to turn the series into a drama-angst novel and deviate from the light-hearted otaku style the previous novels have been.

Having finished volume 7, it's definitely has a serious tone, and the ending has more weight once you've gone through the entire chapter. Unless the next volume makes a huge mess out of everyone's relationships, I can't see this as being just another fake out like it was with Kirino and volume 6's ending.

Which also means the story has started to reach a conclusion, in terms of the three main characters that is.

This isn't an early victory. It's a victory 6 volumes in the making. The hints have been there all throughout the series, and the only real obstacle ever was Kirino. Ayase lost out once she was revealed, Minami never had a chance once Kyousuke got deep into the otaku culture, and Saori is still missing a critical event to link her and Kyousuke... she's too much of a bystander at this point.

And with it clear that Kuroneko and Kirino are aware of how each other feel for Kyousuke, I can see one last fight, but if Kruoneko loses Kyousuke, it's not going to be for normal reasons, and there will have to be some upsetting development to shake the link that was set this volume.
