2 and 3:
Well, this series is a near-failure when it comes to fanservice, but I ended up watching for the character development. What the fuck? Character development and plot in TLR? Yes, indeed, our characters that were mostly used to act out their defined quirks in the original will show some subversion of expectations. It's strangely subtle for a series like that, what with the tsundere that you'd totally expect to hit him after a strangely honest and sensual scene but having seemingly understood her own feelings better, and matured. It's unfortunate that Rito is still kinda stuck in his generic harem lead state for so long though. Of course, the main entrance into the fray is Yami. While Momo's efforts are much appreciated since it seems like the show only knows how to do anything resembling sexiness with her, Yami brings in the big guns, with her super deadpan attempts into getting with what Rito feels about her, and her sister that would love to bring back the deadly assassin that was once Golden Darkness. If I didn't know any better, it would be the signs of the setup of a usually intriguing conflict that seems almost out of place for a series like that. 6+(2 for Yami)/10 for episode 2 and 7/10 for episode 3, I'd say. This is way more like it even though I am being denied various things. It's the kind of stuff that makes Darkness stand out from its previously more conventional counterpart. Edit: Also, be more consistent with the censorship. Censor Rito's ass too, ffs.

To Love Ru Pinkness 05 - Riko Returns!
After the relatively heavy atmosphere of last week, having a chance to cool off for a bit, and see some characters who had been kinda ignored, is always welcome. Last week's statement was on the nose - Nana is Mea's connection to Earth. It looks be working, too, if Mea isn't willing to use her skills in front of a friend. The presence of Maron meant Haruna got more screentime than usual, too. Run was just a mention, though. The episode ended on a rather voyeuristic note - from two parties. Not only was Riko feeling herself up in the mirror, Momo was watching her do it. If the preview is any indication, Momo doesn't care if Riko becomes Queen of the Galaxy and creates a lesbian harem - she can still have fun that way. Quite open to experimentation, that girl. Yami descending with wings like an angel might be hitting the theme of the season a little too on the nose. Does make for some nice visuals. Speaking of nice visuals, so many school swimsuit butt shots at the start of the episode. TLR is just as good at non-explicit fanservice as its regular forte. |

Watched episode 5 then checked the manga to compare (haven't read ahead in the manga to know what would happen). All I can say is.... damn! Maron you lucky and privileged bastard!
Even though it's censored, it was amazingly fun to watch. 10/10 |

Can't give you exact episodes, given my viewing is so sketchy, but her presence is largely relegated to Motto (season 2). Feel free to skip season 1 if you want her. Actually just skip season 1 until episode 11~ regardless. Everyone knows the show only starts with Yami. First season also looked kinda lousy and is generally forgettable though they ramped it up a lot with later incarnations of the show.

Nana as a feature is limited because - she's not getting matched into Rito's harem. However, she should expect a bit more screentime, when paired with Mea who happens to have a story focus at the moment.

I agree it just makes things look extra dumb to show male buttocks without the slightest bit of soap, mist, or beams of light and darkness (how you make a beam of dark I don't know...). Entertaining still, though they really push the limits hard in this series. Hard to imagine that the manga author doesn't have any H works when most of his chapters have at least one person screaming in climactic passion.
Again, I wonder whether they're going to include the next chapter in the TV series. If they do they'll really be pushing things to the edge on several counts. |
