Good Anime Movies to Watch?
I'll be hanging out with 2 friends this Friday (and Saturday too if it turns into an overnight/early morning sleepover deal), and I was hoping to get some good anime movie recommendations (for newcomers to anime) that I would enjoy as well (preferably ones I have not seen yet).
The Movies must be available on DVD, have an english audio track, listed at netflix.com as available (the DVD versions must be available), and they must be movies I have not seen. My Completed Anime List for reference: http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Baby_Naruto

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. It's generally regarded as a really good movie, as far as I know.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time would be a decent choice
Whisper Of The Heart is also quite good. If you want more actiony stuff you could try Read Or Die, which I know has a good English dub. it's 3 OVAs so about 90 minutes.

Second 'Princess Mononoke' (although I don't like the English dub voices, but the I am no native English speaker anyway) and add
'Tokyo Godfathers', which is the right choice if you want to watch something funny. 'Sword of the Stranger' would be a good choice too, the story is a bit thin but the animation and artwork are quite impressive. 'Lupin: Castle of Cagliostro' is another good watch. Quite old but very charming and funny. |

Listen to Insanity anything by Miyazaki and you cant go wrong.
The best one imo is Princess Mononoke. Also if you want action Sword of the stranger is great and maybe Afro Samurai and Afro Samurai resurrection (i think Samuel L. Jackson does someones voice there) You can see them in english in netflix. |

Here are some reccomendations:
Princess Mononoke: This is sort of an adventure story of a battle between humans and gods of nature - it is a VERY good film, recommended for reasons detailed already. Whisper of the Heart: This one is based in reality, a young love story set in a semi-urban city. Very charming and enjoyable. Millenium Actress: Something of a human drama focusing on the life of a retired actress. Really well done. I can also extend this list by adding pretty much all films done by Studio Ghibli: Spirited Away, Omohide Poroporo, etc.

Gonna bump this thread a bit and ask ;
Is there a list somewhere of all anime movies made, perhaps sorted by year or something ? I tried looking from Anidb and wiki but I couldn't find list of all anime movies made. I've most likely seen all the '' mainstream '' ones .. Well, the more known ones such as KnK, all movies by Makoto Shinkai and so on, but recently I've watched few movies that I found on accident such as Sword of the Stranger and Origin ; Spirits of the Past .. Maybe there aren't that many anime movies since I can't find a list ? :/ The reason I'm after movies is that I'm 99% sure I've seen all anime that was made in this century that interest me even a bit, so Im kinda out of stuff to watch besides the weekly releases

http://www.listology.com/list/every-...d-alphabetical Although unfortunately it details western animation also, but it does state the date. http://animetoplist.org/watch/anime/list This link is a compliation of series, movies and Ova's, Ona's and specials. I am sure you could find some you have not already seen. or more specifically - here's a link to Anime Movies http://www.animevice.com/movies/ I haven't come across anything that lists all films in descending/ascending order by year of production which is a pity. Aside from the recommendations already listed, I could recommend (although you've probably seen them - but will state them for others too): Ghost in the shell - and Ghost in the Shell - Innocence. Samurai X - Trust and Betrayal Grave of the fireflies Dante's inferno Paprika Vampire Hunter D - Bloodlust Dead Leaves Akira Sky Blue Appleseed & Appleseed - Ex Machina Hopefully you'll find something new to watch - if you do, let us know |

Please guys, stop posting already. This thread is old and originally about watching a certain movie at a certain day, but I merely bumped the thread to add my question about lists of anime movies .. I should have made my own thread, I guess.
This only strengthens the fact that people really do not read other posts before adding their own, though.. sad :/
