Given the status of the authors root directory of their site it looks like someone went in their and did some serious house cleaning. There isn't a single "no-no" item on the site, which probubly means someone got hit hard for a while, the lycos webmasters noticed, then went in and wiped out any potentially illegal or offending content including anything that might or was drawing high volumes of traffic to the site. It's actually common practice. They'll nail you the same way on geocities or any other free webhosting service.
