I'm with NoSanninWa's initial critisism as those were exactly the points me and 6 of my friends who watched the movie on the same night were pointing out as well, so I wont repeat them and choose another example.
Something else that bothered me a bit was how the confrontation of the pirates vs. the armada went, as well as Calypsos "wrath". I wont go into how the whole Calypso thing was dropped out of nowhere in the 3rd movie, so ok, here she is proclaming that in the event of her being freed, she'd show them all what a goddess with a bad temper can do (I don't remember the exact wording). Well, lo and behold, when she was freed, she let it rain a bit and made a vortex that sucked up the ex-dutchman when he was beaten. Basically she just created a scenic backdrop for the final fight with not much damage or consequences. That's some wrath... So, instead of using the goddess plot device to even out the odds a bit, both the pirate ships and the East Indian Company's armada were left untouched. In conclusion, after the main fight, the pirates are still more or less on the loosing side, going by ship numbers. Then of all things, the pirates suddenly "win" when they blew up only one ship. Granted, they blew up a ship with an important representative of the E.I.C on board, but it's a bit hard to swallow that in that whole fleet there's noone who'd take command in such a case. I just chose one example where the movie left a very uneven impression on me. Overall it's still an ok movie, but the were lots of little things that taken as a whole just left me underwhelmed with the 3rd movie. There was potential, but from my POV the movie lacked focus and smart (and in some instances even coherent) writing. |

a lot happened in that movie i was not disapointed. Maybe it's because i was not hoping for anything coming from it. I did prefer the first one. fav character: jack, jack(monkey) and barbosa I did not saw the scene after the credit, i needed to go to the toilet... thanks a lot to the member of the forum who made me cry for learning that (joke) |
