What would be Koyomi's reason for wanting to keep her alive (if she wants to die anyway)? The 1st thing that comes to mind is that he'll lose his powers if he does this, but does this then imply that Koyomi's selfish?

I think Shinobu doesn't wanna die in such a way, come on.. starving to death - isn't really a good way to die ya know. I guess being Immortal ain't all great, well you can hear that from C.C.(Code geass) as well.

Koyomi doesn't also want to bear (ugh.. which bare..) the burden of having somebody dying because of him, so I'm guessing he is just showing some compassion

Wasn't Kisshot's reason for seeking death in the first place was because she was bored that their is nothing in this world important enough to her to warrant her to continue living through her immortal life. With koyom i think shes found the reason to live that she lost 400 years ago with that samurai.
Besides Koyomi 's compassion for shinobu is too great for him to allow her to die, so he willingly lets her suck his blood since Shinobu would not suck his blood if he did not allow it.
Though the dilemma here is that at sometime down the road one of them will have to make a decision because as long as koyomi keeps his vampire powers he will be able to live for a long time like shinobu and everyone else around him will grow old and die

Shinbou kicked my stomach.
It seems like kicking won't satisfy her ....

The rest of it goes onto something else more ... fun. But that's probably the conversation they had regarding his "probable immortal status".

I honestly don't care if the casts are immortal or not, as long as their personalities don't change. And Mayoi's definitely part of his harem ... his behavior toward her is too loliconlike (despite him vehemently denying it).

I have not read beyond Nise 1, so if Nisio Isin talk more about it in Nise 2, I wouldn't know.

It was temporary. This was the furthest they had ever pushed it and if she had taken any more of his blood she would likely have become complete and Koyomi would have returned to being a vampire.

I don't know if I'm remembering this correctly but after Shinobou said that she mentioned that he can just kill her right there and then and end this problem. In the end Araragi refused and said that they will die together when the time comes.
Bascially, I guess Araragi is mentally ready to spend hundreds of years with her.

oh my lord if i was Shinobu even though i was a vampire i would still be shaking about what Senjogahara would do to me when she finds out about Arargi's extended life. Senjogahara would probably go easy on her if Shinobu would extend her life as well.

I think senjogahara already know about the extended life. I mean she know that koyomi is a half vamp and everyone knows that vamp has long life.

And if I think it more romantically. If hitagi will be dying koyomi will follow her to the next world. And if koyomi die shinobu will also die.

I think you guys are underestimating Shinobu's power. Even though she is in a weakened state she still has her fair share of powers. I mean we know for sure that she can hide out inside shadows and she also has her 2m long sword that can slice through Hitagi like tofu.
