Thats the problem that I see...people being irresponsible

Imo, if the tags are for the genres then there should be a dropdown list to choose from instead of making up your own tag names.

If the number of meaningless tags get silly, send me a PM pointing out where and why. We can always remove them. Assuming we don't disable the tag function, long term the problem will probably self-correct (by the tags being used/searched-for infrequently compared to meaningful tags).

Could be nice idea, I think. Right now it would have to be done manually, using a trust based system, where it is assumed that users don't abuse where the tag gets used. Would need forum modification to have it enforced, so don't hold your breath.

Yes that would be much better, a list of tags that you can choose from

I don't see how those are meaningless at all. Those perfectly apply to the show (Except akane which I have no idea what it means) and are informative.

Sorry but I don't see how shouta and yiff are informative.

Edit:
Is it possible to disable the addition of tags that contain some words?

If its possible, I would really like these words not to be allowed in the tags: shounen, shonen, shōnen, seinen, shoujo, shojo, shōjo, josei, male, female, man, woman, men, women, boy, girl, boys, girls, child, children

Look it already started with shounen:

Boo hoo. Why not just NOT have tags, then, if you are going to cry about someone tagging a thread with something you don't like?

Quit whining, you delicate hump.

Tags are meant to be useful, if you start limiting their use, what's the point of using them?

yiff = furry = totally appropriate for tripe like Kanokon.

So far except for the weird toolbar with Digg and de.lici.us at the bottom, I'm liking most of the changes, especially the profile/friend ones, so props to the admins.

Isn't this what communists and others do to stifle dissent? Prevent any kind of contrary opinions

Whow hold on guys, put your pitchforks away

Its just a suggestion as to what to do with the tags.

I would just say that there should be a way to make sure that people aren't being irresponsible with the tags but perhaps we should allow some time to see how far this "trust system" works.

So, uh, does 'shouta' convey absolutely no meaning to you? Or is it more like "Onoz! It involves teh little boys! IT HURTS MY SENSITIVITIES SO I OPPOSE ITS EXISTENCE!" "How about 'loli'?" "Oh, sure, that one's cool."? Slippery slope, dude.

And, as PEDOS_GRANDE and N-Bomb said, tags are meant to be useful; they're conceptually designed to let a community tag whatever they want however they want, with the implicit understanding that patterns and usage will eventually start to evolve and converge. Research before you preach.

Hmmm aside from the tags, I prefer the old user profile version slightly more. I think private messages may become redundant as well as people spending more time socialising then posting. I may be being pessimistic. Not to say that the new version is particularly bad but it could lower forum discussion.

Though overall not bad, maybe it could work.

I am sorry to say, but I just don't see myself using some of the new features any time soon (i.e: albums, tags) >_<!

Where is the "hide option" when you need it

I must say that I do like how the profile page works now.

Everybody is gonna find out I am a profile stalker now, though.

And yes, I should have added the bookmarks on my first post as well.

I don't mind the new user profile page. It's organized a little better and there's a few cool options like leaving someone a message. I'm not too fond of the bookmark and tag options though. Tags just don't work well without enforcement.

So is KiNa going to create an ecchi group soon?

Oh, and avatar is changed at Klashikari's insistence.

Tags are generally ridiculous. My only exposure to them has been on Slashdot. I don't use them at all, except to get the general idea of whether the article is serious or not. If they don't influence anything by just being there, I don't see anything wrong with. If kiddies think it's hilarious to use ridiculous tags, then as long as it isn't offensive and doesn't impact our forum browsing I don't see an issue.
