Christmas came early this year! Awesome!

I admit I never read the novels; I managed to find the English translation, but for some reason or another I could never get into the story. I'm delighted to see that it'll be animated; I've read some spoilers about what happened in the novels, and it'll be interesting to see how those moments look in animation, with voices and colors.

Additional Info
According to Type Moon Ace vol.6, Urobuchi Gen said that the duration of the Fate/zero anime is long enough to accommodate the whole chapters of the original novel. They have even added new scenes.

Source: Seasons of Change
This is really good news. It is guaranteed that there will be no screw-ups like UBW, but 'EVEN MORE SCENES + ORIGINAL ELEMENTS'. Fuck yes.

Very good news indeed. I can't wait to see what this 'new scenes' will be, and how they'll add to the story.

So this either means a TV series or OVAs.

Hoping for the latter...

I as well, an OVA that is very true to the original plot and strays very little. No rushing, or butchering of the story. I felt Fate was okay, but UBW movie was simply... sub par. Though I liked the music and action sequences~

isn't this thread supposed to be merged with the Fate/Stay night threads?

It will be when it's almost airing. For now let's just keep it here since that will attract more people.

Same here. An OVA series tends to have more focus than a full TV series, since they generally aren't as long.

Like i said, i'm ready for a surprise.
I haven't read it nor am I too knowledgeable about the novels, so I'll trust you Shiroth. Haha.

Seriously though, I was talking about this with a few people a while ago, I wouldn't be very surprised if Kajiura makes a return to this new ufotable x T-M project. If Urobuchi has anything to say over it (which I don't know, but maybe the staff's interested in the guy's opinion), and seeing recent interviews where he personally asked for Kajiura to work on Madoka, I really think it's a valid possibility.

Then again, if they do decide to go with a more orchestrated score, I'd personally like to see Naoki Sato given a chance here. His work for Sword of the Stranger was amazing, and Sato's overall track record is just as good.

(Oh goodness, how I love speculating over music before composers get announced. Just imagining some stuff makes me happy, hahaha.)

Ei Aoki, the director of this anime, was also too busy on Hourou Musuko.

I'd like to see this in movie format, split into 4 parts like KnK was split.

Yeah, i'd totally go for Naoki Sato to score this. Plus he hasn't scored anything in quite a while, so it would be such an awesome come back.

Hm, this is pretty cryptic. It doesn't necessarily means it's a TV anime though, he could just mean the project itself provides enough time to adapt all of that. The way it's worded makes it sound as if it were a TV anime it would be longer than the standard 24-26 episodes. Still, I hope for a movie series adaptation so we can have the maximum animation and art quality possible for the project.

If this is anywhere near to the quality of Kara no Kyoukai, it'll be great.

Do I have to read or watch Fate/Stay Night to understand and appreciate this? I know Deen's F/SN adaptation was underwhelming, and I way too little patience with the VN medium to read much.

Not really, as it's a prequel. You will be spoiled on content from the game's third route, which has never been adapted, however.
