It's really weird, because Witchblade (whoever she is) strangely looks like Saya from Blood+ ... or are my eyes deceiving me ... ?
To add, why the fuck do female leads HAVE to be big-chested? I mean ... this is anime, not hentai, and if one aims for a serious anime ... the breasts are not really factors. For example, Fujioka Haruhi is practically boobless, but she pulls it off w/ her charm and personality (and not to mention that cool-headed stoicness). I did love the transformation, though ... oh, I did love transformations but I had too much henshin anime a long time ago ... This not really a series that blows one away, and is quite mediocre in my opinion. There IS a story, however, and it seems it really is going somewhere, so I'm watching it. Pluses are her transformations to become Witchblade, but it definitely isn't a must-watch. That I'm sure.

Today at midnight I watched episode four, and TBS has already aired it in the Tokyo area today.
It was most alike to the first episode but lighthearted & there were two important conversations taking place which were the highlights. Spoiler:
The rest of the episode from what I can interpret deals with Riko's attempt to get her mother contracted at Mariko's "Mary Gallery" pub. Also, in regard to those humans transforming into the sentient, horny machines. Spoiler:
Since this episode was for the most part lighthearted, there were several cute tunes of mother-daughter themes, though pay attention to the creepy and ominous music played when Father talks to Reina. The cello rendition is gloomy and ethereal. By the way, looks like the OP would be undergoing constant changes for each episode. Aside from the changes of the previous episode, the OP has now shots of WMasane in all of her fighting glory. Quote:
As of now, few female characters, aside from Masane, had been introduced. Besides, you should thank that all of them are over twenty and below twenty-five years old. Or would you want for the protagonist be a 14 or 15-year-old with the freaking body of a porn star? Spoiler:
My only complaint was the animation going downhill at certain frame shots of Masane and Riko talking in the bed and having dinner & Masane engaging Segawa at the hotel's lobby. Moreover, I pulled my most annoying BLERRGH face for the chubbies. They were just BLERRGH! and didn't care much for them once wasted. Finally, I detected a goof for Masane's wristband. The frame shots of her having dinner with Riko do not display at all the wristband on either wrist during that scene. And for those missing the days of Mai-Otome's ShizNat and ShizTom, WitchBlade has its original share for hot lesbianism. She's really in to bed Reina. My intuition served me right, and there's going to be a vicious catfight for the next episode. I hope it lasts a little more than just three minutes than previous episodes. Spoiler:

Really now, it's distracting. I understand that this is an "otaku thing" and it doesn't make the show bad in any way, but it makes me take the show a lot less seriously. 8) |

I agreed with you before I watched the series, but after noting down that the Witchblade is a sexual predator (no, not the societal definition) who can't keep her knickers on while fighting I think it's exactly appropriate. Damn what a dangerous sex bomb, I'd like to try taming her. Anyway, after watching all four episodes this is the series for me this season. I'd be hesitant to call it the best of this season, or even exceptional, but it has grasped my interest in a way that it is the only series I am eagerly awaiting each week. |

It just quite takes away the mood's seriousness when I see her boobs all over the place. Quote:
Seriously, though, GONZO needs to have more Last Exile shows ... rather than 'i'm t3h p0w3rful1 c0z 1 hv sup3r b00bs i pwnzzz j000 ... ' But going back, only Joe really was good enough for Bakuten. The rest were, in the words of Suou Tamaki, 'homo side characters.'

Oh wow this was such a bad live action show, I can't believe that they are animating this.
Anyway, putting that disbelief aside I went and scanned through the link that Guido provided. http://dat.2chan.net/18/res/2739000.htm I just couldn't help but laugh from reading the comments. Boobs + Loli + Lez, someone was saying that he was full from just this one show. I think I have to go take a closer look. |

>> But it would also seem cool if she semi-transformed into a manly figure
To each his own. Personally, I like my female warriors, fighters and whatnot to resemble something other than castrated male figures. Besides, it would severely affect the erotic appeal of her panting and heaving chest. I really like how the Witchblade isn't possessive such that it dominates Masane but rather it intensifies her primal nature. As she has Rihoko, it's evident Masane will be battling the Witchblade psychologically later on in the series, and what will make it interesting is that she is essentially battling her own desires rather than an alien possessive entity that serves as a scapegoat for her actions. Here's to hoping Tozawa won't become a dead weight in this series, or the token "Let me get your delicious loli to safety while you fight off all the bad people, mmmkay?" |

Oh c'mon now! Y'all act like every anime ever produced features "big breasted women". It's 'WITCHBLADE' for crying out loud! Surely, you forgot about our American comics and one title of the same name. All 'Gonzo is doing is putting a different touch on 'Top Cow's baby'. I already knew that the show was going to be "fanservice" based on the designs and the fact that it's 'Witchblade'. What did one expect? As long as the show has a decent story underneath all the fanservice I really don't care. I've seen worse. And I usually don't like shows throwing fanservice if it's unecessary. But you can have a show that has fanservice and still have a solid story underneath. But again it's all what you're into. Coming from a woman, I enjoyed 'Baku-Ten' despite *what they were pulling. So if anything I'm watching this series because it's 'Witchblade' and because I find it a guilty pleasure and I want to stick it out to the end.
Sexual predator is right. I realized that off the back and I had to laugh at times. I caught that in ep. 3 and 4. The fight is the "sex". The two come in contact and it's triggers all this crazy insane chemistry. If the opponent can live up to such *expectations. If not then you'll leave a very frustrated 'WMasane'. Catfight is coming. Now will they explain how the artifact will work in contact with other women using a similar artifact since it seems to react to "male, raping-robots". Last note, any blog sites for this show? I realized that are not many reviews for this show because not many are interested. Also, any pointers on how to navigate 'Futaba-chan'.net is greatly appreciated as well.

I came a bit late to start discussion of episode five. I won't be providing synopsis for the episodes rather discussing the highlights and low points on them. In fact, I will be waiting for wrex_japan's for his episode synopsis to WitchBlade posted in his blog, since he has way better comprehension and understanding skills of spoken Japanese than me.
Simply, it surprised me the increase in story quality for episode five. The plot take-off quickly and has started to build up in contrast to the slow start of episode one. Two minor characters were given treatment and screentime to establish their personalities. The highlights were the conversations that took place between Takayama and Masane. Spoiler:
Father conversation with Reina. Spoiler:
Takayama's conversation with the Father. Spoiler:
The conversation between Tozawa and Masane. Spoiler:
Other highlights include the music tracks played on the first three conversations mentioned above. Then, the shining effect for both the CloneBlade and WitchBlade's eyes, standing out in the darkness makes them both creepy and accentuates their feral looks; a wild beast. Last, GONZO did a slight improvement for the ex-con design in this episode which was satisfactory to me. Spoiler:
For last, the pace at which the episode built up and not just ending in the traditional way of WMasane reducing the Ex-con of the Week into chunks. Spoiler:
For my negative criticism, I cannot think about the staff's lack of attention for animation detail at certain scenes. The glaring flaw lies on Masane animated with a large waist and wide hips. My God! Just take a close look at those pics! Mommy suddenly gained a few more pounds by magic! And for not overlooking that someone brought the topic about the fanservice in this show. GONZO deliberately are adding in-jokes to make pun of Masane's inordinately huge breasts. - Riko teases about her mommy's got them huge. - When Tozawa at last meets Masane, he's being sleep-deprived for a few days, that what remaining strength left on him, and barely can take a look at her and dubbs her MasaMune. It is a pun regarding that what Tozawa only saw on Masane at first given his weak and tired state were her breasts, as they stand a lot on her and which Mariko takes pleasure and every chance to tease her with that name. Spoiler:
The minor characters given treatment were Tozawa and Segawa. Spoiler:
