I didn't expect that end of ep 4. At first, I thought Canaria got eaten or smashed, but I'm starting to think that the space around her was eaten instead and she may have been teleported instead. That may be me just getting my hopes up for her to still be alive.

Episode 4

So as expected, Ichiya changes for the better. He loses his arrogance and goes for teamwork rather than doing stuff on his own. He has accepted the fact that he can't do everything on his own and can only accomplish stuff with the help of his friends. Nothing interesting here. The amusing part though was where that Chiba guy was calling Ichiya small fry, pathetic and similar stuff and Ichiya was putting him off by agreeing with him. And then everyone's reaction to Ichiya talking somewhat normally was also hilarious.

The ending was kinda unexpected though. I did not see Canaria being blown away or whatever by something. And more despair for Ichiya.

May be the case of hoping for the best, but I think it's pretty probable that she's still alive. Clearly a reason that they went after her like that. Something known even by the higher ups and thus why they wanted to quickly secure her. If she's that important then I could see the "unknowns" moving for a capture operation than outright assassination. Considering the power of her boost if she could be used by the unknowns then that would give them an easier time taking over.

Of course since we don't know anything about these things...anything is on the table. Guess it depends how dark they want to go with this. Either permanently ripping away the one thing that Suzaku was living for or giving him and the others someone to try and save.

Did A-1 simply ran out of money during the episode's last few sequences?

EDIT: Next episode is Regalia, hue. I guess the entire show will be dropped after Episode 5 and will be rewritten soon?

The timings of these magazine's are always weird Sometimes they'll spoil a character, sometimes a pic would have been better used earlier...

Don't worry guys, there is probably a good chance that Canaria is still alive, mainly because there is no real point of setting up the whole "No Entry Zone" thing just to kill her off. Definitely not this early anyway.

As for the elephant in the room, while Qualidea Code has never been more modest at best when it came to animation but that was...bad.

Really bad.

So bad in a way that can't be ignored moreso this early on. I think this show might need take a delay as whole unless the next couple weeks are a serious improvement. Otherwise decent episode I guess.

I'm not really an "anime politics" guy, but why did this show turn out like this?

The story might be somewhat unpolished, but it's workable so far.
But A-1 hasn't given this show justice compared to Gakusen Toshi Asterisk, their immediate previous show.
Aniplex's money (which might not even be that might) might have been sucked up dry by getting three artists to do the songs for the show.

I dunno. I'm trying to wrap my head about why this had to go this way.

I think people are missing that the timing of that Megami scan is because she most likely isn't really dead. If anything, her being the focus of a Megami scan for this series assures me that she really isn't gone. People thought Shouko really died in episode 1 of Valvrave. That didn't work out.
Canaria was all over the PVs for this series and she's clearly been made out to be one of the main characters. At the end of the series is one thing, but to kill her off here in episode 4? After she had a brush with death just this very episode? Why not kill her off then?
I may not be able to say with 100% certainty obviously, but this just feels all wrong for the death of a major character, especially such an unremarkable death. Unless this is supposed to be Muv-luv levels of dark (and this in no way looks like that dark a series), she's not dead. And even Muv-luv didn't kill off a major character so early. (Though admittedly I've only seen the two animes and read up about certain deaths in the Total Eclipse game)

It does feel dramatically wrong. However, it doesn't feel wrong enough for me to be absolutely certain that they aren't just trying to pull a "see? We can be gritty and dramatic! We're a real series too! Praise us!" sort of thing.

I'm not saying you're wrong. I think, and hope, you're right, in fact. I'm just not sure of it.

that was really a big "surprise" and i was really caught off guard with that ending but something really looked weird...

why only the 2 girls(canaria and glasses girls) "somehow get marked" and the others students not??? and when they get "market" that part looked really weird.

I agree with you, considering how important Canaria´s character is and how she was used like mascot to promote the series it is very unlikely she´s dead. My moneay is on whatever the hell the powers of this kids truly are, you can´t just develop super magical powers without some sort consequences or a price.

P.D.: how many episodes is this series going to have? If it´s going to be 12 is unlikely Canaria´s fate is sealed but if it is 24 is impossible for her to die so freaking early.

I'm actually holding out hope that there's more to Canaria, that first scene in the very first episode still has me thinking that she's really important to this series.

Someone speculated that the birds disappearing in Episode 1 was them being zapped, possibly after breaching the No-Entry Zone. Since birds and those kids are different, the kids get a different, more lethal punishment for crossing over.
