Not that it really matters, but I have no idea why fans like his work. The direction/storyboard for Rei was easily the worst of the series, almost coming across as a boring slideshow (mostly a series of close ups and tracking shots).
Where DEEN is concerned, Junji Nishimura probably does the best work. However, he doesn't seem to be the most versatile director either. Quote:

But you have a point; Deen or not... I'd be very skeptical of this anyways. Quote:
Then again, I guess we were clamoring over not Kon Chikai, who gets blamed for much. Also, Higurashi Rei was the last thing that wasn't a POS I've seen from them.

On the bright side, maybe the fight scenes will look better. Lol.
I just hope they will do Jinchuu Arc after this. Since I'm a huge Ruroken fan, I'll swallow my disappointment and watch this anyway.

Yeah, some people here talk about others having gotten their hopes up.
Really, how could anyone have even suspected such a huge disappointment? A remake of the Kyoto Arc? In two episodes? From the PoV of someone who wasn't there? Really? Why? Why?? It makes no sense. Even the idea of using it to test the waters for a Jinchu Arc anime makes no sense. How could they not know how much fans have been wanting the Jinchu Arc animated?

They sure don't have a pleasant track record, and just having their named slapped on this just makes it more fail. Just makes the studio's track record even worst. Even if it's not their idea, it's still their reputation.

Doing an OVA (with a theatrical run for extra exposure and a 15th anniversary promotional tag) allows them to feel out today's market with less risk. I suppose the main hope is to re-ignite the passion of original fans who've grown up. If sales prove that a substantial audience exists, Aniplex has little reason not to produce more Kenshin anime. |

Deen is a hired gun and their reputation already sucks, what exactly do they have to lose? Doesn't change the fact that people here were acting like it was DEENs idea before Shiroth's post. Want someone to blame, look @ Shueisha and whoever else is funding this project. Shueisha probably went with a Hunter X Hunter remake since the manga is still "ongoing" and nearly as selling as well as Naruto, not to mention it outsells RK. Rk's 28 volumes sold 47 million copies where as HxH has done 55 million copies for 29 volumes. They also might be doing this "Kyoto" release to feel out the market for a Jinchuu animation or even a remake like HxH.

Deen + Mari Okada + Remake of a famous series = Doomed.
Sigh Deen... ruining franchises again . And Mari Okada... what the hell man? I like your slice of life or drama based series you are involved with (True Tears, Wandering Son, Anohana, Toradora), but your non-slice of life ones tend to be medicore (Fractale, Gosick) or "fangirl material" (Vampire Knight, Black Butler). Why ruin your reputation Last edited by Pocari_Sweat; 2011-09-30 at 21:52. |

Yeah,I went "lol wut?" when I saw Okada's name in there
I definatly would love to hear a conversation to see if it really went like -"look guys,we need someone to adapt a classic 90 SJ manga" -"How about Mari Okada?" -"Yeah,great idea!" Because that seems like complete crazy talk to me Then again retelling a story in a contracted way from a different POV sounds like a Okadaish "adaptation" to me,the girl doesn't really do straightforward adaptations anymore it seems. And,hell, maybe it'll work but Okada could have a pretty sizable hatedom at the end of this.
