Not a thread yet? I'm surprised. Fans of traditional Japanese music must not miss this movie. Simply told without any surprises really, but powerful, more so because based on true story. Animation painstaking on the instrument playing. I'm glad to see a more shows now going through the efforts of accurate animated depictions of musical performances. Instead of cheating angle shots with pianos, etc. Melancholy of Haruhi is another recent one where the school festival rock band performance was outstanding. The finale performace was quite stirring.

Hint to fangirls: Nitaboh's competitor is a bishounen.

Seriously though, Nitaboh plays like a total rocker. I'm not really a fan of traditional oriental music, but the music was nice.

The animation is pretty incredible and the direction solid for the first product of an "Education and Entertainment Corporation" (Wao....lol)
