Anyone watch the first season dubbed? What does everyone think of it. The English dub voice for Shiroe just doesn't sound fitting to me. And Nyanta's voice.....

From the first Blu-ray collection released by Sentai. Ordered from Rightstuf and I got it early.

Ah, I see. I was wondering how you could've heard it when the collection hadn't been released yet. Sentai hasn't even released a proper preview of the dub yet. Their "preview" was just the scenes of Akatsuki kneeing Naotsugu, without context.

English dubbed isn't bad. I liked Shiroe and Akatsuki dubbing. Only 1-13 was released, second half will be released in January.

I agree, Akatsuki fits. Shiroe for me though sounds off. Nyanta's voice I am not a fan of.

What I always hated about Dub, and that is when they don't even try to translate the actual Japaneses writing. Sure they can't edit the actual footage, If they did it and turned all writing to english than that would be amazing for a dub. But have a simple text in english on top of screen for the important text or over it should be common place.

But I watched many anime dubs where they don't do that and you get scenes when they focus on japanese writing for a minute or two. And I'm going... right... where the hell is the translation that is lazy.

But Log Horizon dub actually translates the text specially on the status screens throughout the episodes. So Well done whoever dubbed Log Horizon, I forgive you for the strange voices of the two male leads just for that. Thank you for not being lazy.

Really? I looked at episode 9 and the text wasn't translated on there. Not even the episode title.

Saw the dub today. Not thrilled with some of the voices myself. Nyanta, Souji, Akatsuki really don't fit. Shiroe and Mariabelle are borderline. Also rather disappointed with forcing all the out of date slang into things. Be nice if someday the guys doing the dub script would actually follow the freakin dialogue of the novel instead of pulling garbage out of their ass because they've been watching too much gansta life. Still, at least it's not at the unwatchable abortion level like HS DxD is.

It looks like the second half of the season will follow the same pattern. Juggling Vol 8 and 9 for a couple episodes and later straighten it out.

Happy New Year, guys!!!

So, I checked out S1 dubbed episodes today. Shirou's voice isn't too bad once you've gotten used to it, and Naosugu's pretty cool. Nyanta's voice, on the other hand, is really unexpected. I would have thought his voice would be something like an English gentleman's. Still, he does have a classy feel to him, which is what Nyanta is, classy, so I guess it's fine.

I kind of like it, though it's a bit brain breaking.
