I've built a couple of recent mplayer releases, the latest being the 3/8/09 snapshot. I see code in libavformat/matroskadec.c that appears to be support for ordered chapters, but when I tried playing BSS Kure-nai episodes in that format the OP's never played. I know the patches are floating around out there; have they not been incorporated in the svn snapshots?

As far as I know, ordered chapters have been repeatedly turned down for inclusion in both MPlayer and ffmpeg.

FYI you should use regular MPlayer svn for now, my branch only contains some very WIP stuff at the moment that's quite buggy.

Ordered chapters are not part of the mplayer or ffmpeg trunk. There are external repositories that deal with it however. The Ophion project's mplayer has ordered chapters, and if you'd like to build a package for mplayer with it I can send you the patches we use and the rest of our build script.

Can ffmpeg-mt be patched to support ordered chapters?

Yes Starks; there are no modifications to libavformat on the ffmpeg-mt branch so the ordered chapters patch (usually) apply cleanly.

And gstreamer (with gst-plugins-bad) git steps up to the plate!

Note the lack of embedded fonts support.

Today, I experienced the injustice of fansubbers careless using ordered chapters with zero respect for multi-platform support.

I am not happy.

I don't really mind ordered chapters to tell the truth. The opening and ending are still there for me to watch when I want. It doesn't really disrupt the playing of the actual show. I personally don't care if fansubbers use ordered chapters or not.

I'm still trying to make sense of how to properly git merge with the ordered chapters repo and patch the mplayer files.

Every set of directions I come across is unfortunately outdated.
