The purpose of this thread is to discuss the working and mechanics of the world of Log Horizon. For example like what each class and sub-class is used for and how to utilize them which surround the Jobs, skill, and the game system. The manga/novel spoiler will be allowed, but they must be clearly labeled and tagged.
Here is a link to the Wiki entry which list the 12 classes to help spark the discussion. Make sure to click on each class name or symbol for more detailed information. Enjoy! Last edited by Dark Wing; 2013-11-07 at 14:12. |

I love the way the class and sub-class system works in this anime! They do really well to portray how it works!
My favourite mixture is Akatsuki's, but to be honest if I were in Log Horizon, the class I would play would be Kannagi, I like a mixture of ranged DPS and supporting, plus it jsut looks damn awesome xD!!! I think my sub-class would be chef, and not jsut because it directly affects the taste of food XD!

Not really. Kannagi have specific builds that allow them to DPS, most popular being the "War Maiden" which focus on using movement speed buffs and placing barriers on yourself to strike with exorcism skills. You'd be gimping your support abilities though.
Another build is an Archery-focused one, which indeed combines decent DPS with decent support skills. Enchanter is the class that can't DPS worth squat. They are literally stated to require party members to be able to finish fights at all. But when they do have a party, hoo boy. |

What is the "mage" class in Log Hora?
And is it wise to speculate that a Cleric/Warpriest is effectively a Paladin (divine combat magic, plate wearer, carries a buckler and defensive augments himself with divine shields?)

Healers being able to deal damage if they spec for it is nothing new. That's called being a hybrid. It's a bit of a balancing game, less healing for more damage, or more healing for less damage. Sorcerer. Glass cannon extraordinaire. We have no idea what the War Priest subclass does (and remember, comparatively few subclasses have any combat value at all), but if you want bubbles you're better off looking at the Kannagi. Clerics are nuke-healers, but don't seem to have much in the way of bubbles. |

Just ran through the class datasheets and noticed that Mamare has already mentioned what were the original classes (aka the ones in the US server) replaced by the Samurai and Kannagi in Japan: Pirate by Samurai, Medium by Kannagi.
