That's why the first chapters could be described as Candy Candy with dog kicking and burning. But in the end, they serves to establish the characters and what is at stake here.

So far so good for episode one. Lacking is inevitable i guess, especially with the pace the first episode was going, but i hope its a minor one only. This TV series better don't make the lackness that the PB movie had previously, which got onto Araki's nerves, and fan's madness.

I have to say, Araki is truly one big factor that decides whether any adaptation made from his title is worthy or not. Messed this TV series badly, and fans can literally say goodbye to the chances of part 3 and above being adapted into TV series.

Let be real, that childhood arc will be infuriating to watch if they split it to 2-3 episode.

Casual watcher will thought this is soap opera, instead hot-blooded shounen,

Though it would be strange to approach that dog, tie it and put it in a box, since the animal feared Dio and wasnt small to begin with. Maybe a sleeping dose but this would arouse suspicion.
Dio explicitly states he killed the dog in the manga as well. The anime didn't alter any of his lines.

I really enjoyed the first episode. It felt a little rushed and forced, but it was a rocking good ride and a look of things to come. I think I'll show this to my wife. She likes Claymore and GNATZ so maybe she'll like this...

7/10

To add to Kanon's post. Dio intended to "get rid of" the dog soon so he could break Jonathan a bit further. His fight with Jonathan just gave him the reason and occasion. To avenge the "slight" from Jonathan making him cry was just a bonus.

Dio is such a bastard. I know this series got a bit of history with it’s manga and all but unfortunately I haven’t really tried to catch up on it cause most of the scans are of bad quality so I’m just gonna follow this anime and see what I’ve been missing out on for years.

To all the "Dio is such an asshole"

Well.... yeah.
He's one of the most infamous villain in ALL of manga & anime history. Couldn't expect less.

The way Dio stands looks like he has a broken back or something. The designs kind of remind me of Tiger and Bunny or maybe zetman

You mean, the Jojo-stance Araki is known for influenced pretty much everything that came after it in the past 30 years, yeah.

And he was equally influenced by Fist of the North Star, etc. Everybody influences everybody.

He has a lot of influence, but that unique Araki-stance is pretty much his signature.
Pretty sure he got the influence for his stances/poses from 70s and 80s pop stars, MJ, Prince, and others.

EDIT: Eh, with research, apparently they were actually influenced by Italian sculpture art, as well as artists such as Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt.

When it comes to Jojo, you can forget about human anatomy.. and funny is, that is one of the many reasons why Jojo is so fabulous

Araki-style posing is so FABULOUS that a school of JoJo posing was born.

Finished watching ep 1 last night and ... well, this really does not seem to be my kind of series. I will give ep 2 a try as well, though, just ... because.
