Warm Bodies (MOVIE)

This movie looks much better than that War Z movie. I can't wait to see it.

What do you guys and gals think?

and yes, "Better than Twilight" yada yada.

Was this film pushed back? Because I thought it was supposed to come out in December. Still, February is a good month for a zombie romantic comedy.

While not the most original story, the film does definitely look well done with a sharp eye for comedic detail and timing. The PG-13 rating is a little damning (even Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland were rated R), but I am more than willing to give the film the benefit of the doubt and director Jonathan Levine is a strong up and coming filmmaker who can pull this story off.

It's a surprisingly decent film. Nothing ground break (it's Romeo and Juliet...with Zombies, though not quite so heavy-handed on the Shakespeare), and the films science makes very little sense (then again, Zombies don't make sense to begin with). But it is well done (if overly simplistic and never quite living up to its initial premise), solidly paced, clever, quirky yet earnest (but not too earnest), and Nicholas Hoult is a very confident (and ridiculously cute) lead. I do appreciate the attempt at minor satire, it certainly elevates film beyond is slight story, but in the end this is just a well crafted B-movie with little aspiration to be anything but a fun divergence. Well done, but almost a trifle. 73/100.

(As an aside, there's only one good feeding scene (that also acts as a damn fine meet cute), so hardcore Zombie fans might be upset about that. And the Zombie make-up is underwhelming at best, and the antagonistic zombies are too fake looking to be taken seriously.)

Seeing the male leads face, turns me off... I never like Twilight or any American teen/school based romance. Watch Silent Hill.. oh, I mean Notting Hill and Titanic....
