Well here it is, finally the moment we've been waiting for! Zeraki Kenpachi fights! Yeah, everyone's been waiting to see him fight again. We loved his power-on-power "tie" with Ichigo and psychotic showdown with Tousen. This is the episode that it happens. Does the fight disappoint? Hell, yeah, there's no way it would be as good as Kenpachi's last two fights and nobody really thought it would be.

Well, Ichinose demonstrates that he can mess around with our entire gang, plus Matsumoto, plus Renji, plus Hitsugaya. Why? Well, they're all just a bunch of dumbasses trapped in filler-land and paralyzed by a stupid blinding technique. Nobody even tried to do a thing to counter this illusionary technique. Everyone just stood like statues and hoped that nothing bad would happen. Finally Ichinose got tired of watching them act stupid and went to kill Chad himself. So Kenpachi knocks away the strike like it was nothing.

Finally the battle happens and we're not entirely bored although large parts of it are practically a blatant rip-off of his battle against Tousen with light replacing darkness. Boring. Then Ichinose uses a hella-powerful attack without using the word "Bankai" making us wonder if the filler writers know that they need to use the word. Well his "Saigyoku Nijigasumi" is so incredibly powerful that Kenpachi has to lift his eyepatch for a second. So Kenpachi demonstrates that anything can be destroyed or countered with enough raw reiatsu. That's a lesson that Ichigo needs to learn since he's also go the raw power for it. Then Kenpachi lowers the eyepatch because he just isn't really that impressed by Ichinose after all.

Surely Ichinose's big attack must have been a bankai to be so powerful, right? This is bound to create a lot of discussion about it being a bankai or not. If he didn't say bankai then it isn't one, right?

Then Ichinose disappoints Kenpachi by blabbering as though he was Kariya's puppet without a will of his own and Kenpachi decides to leave. Ichinose is shocked that Kenpachi would even care if he is his own man or not, but Kenpachi says a few surprisingly deep words about his philosophy. Ichinose is moved by them and rises to the challenge, admitting to both Kenpachi and himself that he really wants to kill Kenpachi for his own reasons. Rekindling Kenpachi's desire for battle, the two swordsmen go for a final attack with all of their strength (just like at the end of Kenpachi vs Ichigo) and Ichinose falls like a poleaxed rabbit. Is he alive? Probably. It actually ended well even though the fight itself was a disappointment.

When did the ep air? Did they change the time slot or something?

Oh, and it sounds like the fight might extend to the next ep from the way you described it, NSW.

Yes. The timeslot was moved to Wednesday. It aired some hours ago.

I'll have to flesh out the description of the end of the fight a trifle since it confused you, though honestly, if you haven't seen the episode why are you reading the summary?

And I'll watch the ep soon enough anyway, so it really don't matter if it confused me or not

It aired today over 12 hours ago. New bleach episodes will be on Wednesdays now.

New opening and closing, both pretty good. The opening focuses on the hollow arc and Ichigo and Hichigo. It also seem to show a little bit of a relationship with Ichigo and Inoue. CAN'T WAIT FOR HOLLOW ARC!!!!

Ep. 98 start from where ep. 97 left off, with Ichinose fighting with Ichigo's group of 7 and giving them and hard time. But then Zaraki comes in and 1 vs 1 him and kicks his ass. Not a very exciting episode more of one trying to be on the touchy side.

I don't get it, Zaraki comes in and have people aw at his huge reiatsu, but Ichigos is bigger and they don't seem to aw him or fear him. As soon as Ichinose sees Zaraki he pisses in his pants ~_~.

Because Ichigo doesn't usually let out his whole strength. He doesn't really know how to let his reiatsu out at will and has to psyche up to it.

love the new OP/ED, but the episode didnt really feel like a bleach episode, seems like they were going for more of a emotional kind of scene but what they got was a very un "Bleach" episode.

Agreed. Never thought those words could come out of Zaraki.

However it does let the viewers see the other side of Zaraki.

Brillant episode, this is on par with the pre-filler episodes as far as quality's concerned

Just LOVE the opening, just LOVE Yui. Best opening of the series IMO. Love it when Ichimaru gets his evil grin in.

the question is, wtf did they move it back a day for just like naruto eps, this is fukn bs, make us hang an extra day then another 12hrs for subs, whats wrong with the original timeline anyway?

Great episode. Art in the first half was horrible (Hitsugaya looked like a 10 year old drew him), but once the Ken-chan/Maki-chan fight started, the animation quality shot up.

Looks like Maki-chan might have his own version of old-man-Zangetsu...because there looks like to be a second part to the duel.

Damn this is better than the SS arc in terms of not dragging it out between big fights...this is one big fight after the other. EXCELLENT.

Loved the episode. Zaraki's fights seldom disappoint, especially since he does not rely on fancy moves, just raw brutality.

The voiceover for the preview was very amusing too, with Ichigo pretending to be sick because he wanted to avoid fighting Zaraki.

Malyn Junior Member Join Date: May 2006	One personal thought Spoiler: Well after this episode, it seems that Ichinose chose to fight only those who wanted to fight or were in his way and Zaraki of course ( to settle what happened before ), as he did not attack Yachiru-chan, but instead had a little chit-chat with her while Zaraki was inside the light "cage". But it is true that if she had insisted on saying he would not die from this attack, Ichinose was ready for a fight. So maybe he is not that angry against Shinigami

His normal shikai release is "Shine brightly" Nijigasumi yet when he perfoms that attack Ichinose states the command "Shine brightly" Saigyoku Nijigasumi which is similar to the whole Zangetsu > Tensa Zangetsu and Senbonzakura > Senbonzakura Kageyoshi naming progression between the shikai and bankai forms of other zanpukto seen in the series. Anyhow just my 5 pence on the subject
