My opinion after watching the pre-air, the animation looks really similar to ZKC spinoff and the story gives similar feeling like Hakkenden do.

If that's the case, then I won't mind at all since I'm enjoying both of those shows.

This show is pretty episodic. But if Hakkenden is what you are comparing to, Karneval has a more visable actual plot.

Spoiler for Episode 1:

The first episode was okay, it revolves about Nai trying to find someone who is precious to his life and gets helped by a bounty hunter named Gareki to chase criminals. The setting looks unexpected and has a 50s vibe to it. The artwork is basically one of the best aspects of the show : it reminds me of Amnesia a lot except more colorful, the characters are supposed to look eccentric in both appearance and personality, has a lively detective atmosphere, and it is somewhat similar to Cowboy Bebop as well. The story, on the other hand, was pretty decent even though the beginning that takes place after the opening scene are strangely weird in terms of pacing. The music feels a bit jazzy, cannot comment on the opening theme (but its song that comes out on the preview was definitively amazing and I listen it a lot of times) yet although the ending theme proves to be one of the best theme songs of this year's spring I've seen. I'll try some more episodes to see how much it hooks up.

I still haven't watched the first episode but wasn't thrilled by that clip with the first 7 minutes, let's see if the full episode is better

I am so sad this isn't getting streamed (and no sub yet either).

I went through the Chinese RAW and it looks like they are really rushing things. On one hand I don't really care about the early chapters as to me they aren't very good.

On the other hand at one cour I feel they are going to have to rush through everything and that doesn't make me feel so confident about this adaption.

But I will say one thing the ending song is great.

Did Kamiya's acting got better in the anime? Or because things move in anime made his acting more natural?

And base on the ED, I guess they plan to end things at vol.6?

Oh, a little disappointed that the sheep aren't pitch black.

I liked the first episode. Maybe just because I enjoyed the cute little lead wuss. In any case, this shows some promise, for me.

What I was thinking. I'm paying for CR so I wanted to see it in HD. Kinda sad it isn't on there, but hopefully the picture quality is better than normal fansubs.

Btw I haven't been able to find the first episode yet. Well in good quality I mean. Lol, I used to watch all anime like this, but after buying my CR sub and watching shows in 720p it's hard to go back to Standard Definition. One reason it was so hard to watch shows like K and Psycho Pass. lol makes me sound a little spoiled (tho i am paying for the quality).

The first episode was very intriguing. Lots of mysteries, little answers. Will to watch more episodes to decide if this is any good.

I like the characters in this anime.
Their design is really nice ^^
The story is pretty good too.
Lots of action, mystery and interesting plot twists.
Will be watching this one!

The story and characters intrigue me. Hope we get more Tsukumo. So 3 groups are after Nai. Gareki just to get rich, though i hope we get more about his story. Hirato and circus, which i guess Karoku was apart of because of that bracelet. Also the anti-circus group, who killed Mine, and possible abducted/killed Karoku.

Not a bad first episode. A lot of things to be curious about though. Nai is pretty damn odd though. Strange ability and just plaint old strange behavior.

Gareki was pretty entertaining. Looks at the guy who just busted through the ceiling, looks up at the hole, then prepares to shoot the guy .

All in all will keep an eye on this. Could be interesting.
