Yeah, something about that fire monster bit seemed intriguing. I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of those "it's been sealed within me, and since I died it released the seal" sort of deal, or perhaps by defeating it, that is how he gained the most powerful fire bankai.
I was pretty surprised with the death though, and how he just get his other arm hacked off really seemed ... I dunno "tragic" somehow? Which is pretty good that it made me feel that way since I've been such a skeptic of the series for so long now. I'm eternally curious how Juha Bach knows EVERYTHING though. Even Aizen didn't know who the Zero Squad was (when he was younger anyway), and he knew about every little happening in the war and all of that. He also seems ridiculously overpowered. I'd have been fine with Yamamoto dying if it was at least, I dunno a valiant effort? He lost his bankai but didn't we see when his sword was sealed before that he is physically a monster as well? I mean he withstood his own flames, used that sacrificial spell on Aizen, punched Wonderweiss into oblivion. Just seems "unlikely" I guess for the stronger shinigami to just die in one slash. At least have him throw a punch or something. |

I assumed the firemonster was yamamoto himself before he had peace. Like he was the monster, the demon. I thought he was saying if that demon retured then he would be died because he gave that life up of being a murderer without remorse.
I almost expect the explosion to be itachigo in full blown pissed super mode. With Zero squad showing up, we need aizen. Only because I want to see his super hacks again and his view on the zero squad seeing them face to face and with luck see the "king" Side note, when they brought it back up, damn, they shut really did burn that place to the ground. To see the damage and reaction animated would have been fantastic.

Wow, Yama-ji just got overkilled (which is ironic, considering that he's the one who's doing that a few chapters ago).
Bach's right hand man (or Haschwald from now on) finally has a name and mohawk's still alive, so As Nodt and Najahkoop should still be in one piece. |

I wish Yamamoto had fought back at least a little. Dying in one slash doesn't befit him.
As for the monster metaphor, it's pretty obvious it was referring to Yamamoto himself. It seems like he pretty much destroyed Soul Society while trying to defend it in the past. He probably even killed his own subordinates too. That was something he deeply regretted and swore it would never happen again.

well... expecting too much and end up disappointed...
I really hope Yamajii won't die in one hit... at least let him die in better way! I really hope that explosion is made by Yamajii.. then he will appear and say "well, what you kill is another form of my bankai! it's only a decoy" then an epic battle will start again... hoping too much |

I don't know...I like Yama-kun's death. As soon as his powers were raised to the nth degree, it became fairly obvious that he would be nerfd somehow. But, even beyond that, Crazy-Hair-Dude is effectively the vengeance that Yama-kun's past ruthlessness has enacted on the world. By being the monster he was in the past, Yama-kun set in motion the events that led to the destruction of SS. Consequently, I like how his last actions were to be depowered (effectively raped) and then eviscerated. It was bleak and hopeless and lots of fun.
I especially liked Crazy-Hair-Dudes choice of words during this chapters attack: "Violate Soul Society". Quite a chilling word choice... Last edited by james0246; 2012-10-10 at 09:50. |

Yamaji got taken out like a punk.
Really i can't help but compare this to how other old anime badasses got taken out. In Naruto the 3rd Hokage had a fierce fight against one of the most prominent villains and in death managed to severely injure him and force him to retreat; considering Bach was planning on leaving anyway to wait for the royal guard maybe Yamaji could have achieved something similar. In One Piece, we had whitebeard who stormed the battlefield plowing through even the toughest opponents; he was taken out by the shear number of wounds that was inflicted upon him by the entire ARMY he was fighting against. Yamaji of bleach... he wastes his best moves taking out a minion and is then taken down effortlessly by the villain. Thus he dies achieving nothing and dying like a punk

There are five special war potentials, Ichigo&Aizen confirmed, waiting for the other 3.
So after eliminating the stronger enemies, they use zerg rush to win? We see the main cast fighting all the time, so I didn't notice it that much, but it looks like the average shinigami is really weak

Kubo gave us crap that Yamamoto wasn't fighting in full-power because he had an Albus Dumbledore thing with his arm that he refuses to let Inoue heal it because of some pride shit that serves as an excuse to kill him with one slash at least KT had the "kindness" to show us his bankai first before killing the character off

Anyways, to the chapter. They showed that Mohawk Stern Ritter was still alive (he was exhausted looking as the soldiers stormed in), but didn't we see Yamamoto kill him? I thought the Mohawk guy was part of the trio that tried to surprise Yamamoto with As Nodt and ended up fried to death? Anyways, Yamamoto's upper body falling to the groun was pretty crazy...and young Shunsui . I wonder...is that Ichigo coming through...the person who helped Urahara...or the 0 squad coming faster than Bach expected? |

i don't really have a problem with yama-jii's death. he wasn't ever that interesting of a character until very recently. he may have been the most boring captain actually. everything in the past few chapters about him was cool, but that's after a decade of almost nothing substantial. so his death was pretty fitting i think. cut down by the avenger he created. also, i'm in the camp that thinks the fire monster was oldschool yama-jii. he used to be a murder machine until he exterminated the quincy and got lazy and started enjoying life to an extent. given that description it makes sense that bach would be stronger now, since he's spent this time honing his revenge. |

I assumed the picture was meant to symbolize his bankai. When he released it, we saw how it could decimate soul society if it went on for too long, so I just assumed that was when he first got his bankai, which meant that if he ever had to use his bankai again, he was telling shunsui, it'd be in a position where he would probably die by his enemy's or his own hands.
