Quote:
At this point if this match drags out too long, it's huge back step on Ippo's development both as a boxer and as a character.

Times though former boxers develop a disease like that. Freddy Roach is one example.
Anyways where's the next chapter, lets see if Ippo's neck really became strong or he's gonna be paralyzed or hospitalized.

Morikawa will not show the dark side of boxing, so we will not see boxers in Roach's condition or we will not see boxers in poverty and alcoholics... the only thing we got was a little mention to Don King.

I can't tell, since I haven't actually read the manga since right before the Randy Boy fight (I rely on you all for updates). I remember him being hospitalized at least once and being badly brutalized in at least two other matches, and he's only been boxing for a few years.

Let's see... Ippo broke his hand after Mashiba's fight but he was in good shape to fight Sendo.
Ippo was hospitalized after his fight with Date, after that, Sawamura almost defeated Ippo but in the end Ippo won. I think that Kojima's punch was the biggest that Ippo received in the manga, because he is a boxer from a higher class. I don't think that Ippo had received too much damage in his +20 fights. Besides, we have yet to see some boxer with problems due to boxing.

I don't remember him being hospitalized after the Date fight. I was referring to him being unconscious for three days after his fight with Volg.
Apart from Nekota, you mean? His problems were well-documented in the arc that went into their pasts.

You're correct, it was after Volg's fight, i'm sorry.
About Nekota, yes... but how can i say it... Nekota fought in an age were you didn't take any precautions. No medics, referees who didn't care about the boxers, very bad training, etc. I was talking about boxers in her 40's or less. We've seen broken jaws, broken hands, etc... Perhaps Nekota will be the only mention about that topic.
