That could work. Wouldn't that be annoying though?

Wouldn't bother me,don't know how others would feel about it.

But then again even if we agree to this I guess the inconvenience is that someone just joining the conversation might not be aware of the agreement.

It's a bit unfair for us to be penalized simply because we care about quality.

Who is this "we" you're talking about? The forum users (don't get your hopes up)? Or Official policy?

As official policy goes, even openly discussing RAW episodes is not against the spoiler policy. Like many organizations (or perhaps most) the original set of rules here was not far-thinking enough to consider situations that they might not have imagined. The rules do not address the issue of whether or not an episode is "pre-aired", "un-aired" or not, nor, indeed, whether or not "official" subbed versions, or fan-subbed versions should be discussed. If you haven't already, perhaps the best thing to do is post a query in the official Spoiler Policy Q&A thread.

Nonetheless, even with rules in place, people ignore them, and open discussion of spoilers abound in these forums, as well as off-topic gobble-dee-gook. Like, indeed, this discussion of spoiler policy.

The forum users,I know official policy doesn't cover this.
It's not like there's a gazillion people watching this, there's a limited number of users who contribute to this thread, as nearly all threads on animesuki it's sort of its own community, feel free to think I'm a fool for believing that a few forum users can come to an agreement over the use of spoiler tags but I do.

And no,trying to see how we can organize this thread so people who don't watch the pre air can have a place to talk about the show isn't off topic.

There is nothing off topic about fans having common courtesy to discuss ways to not spoil each other. Sometimes you don't need an official rule to consider others.

Whether you watch the pre-aired episode or the TV broadcast people want to be part of the discussion and that becomes significantly harder if half the group will be significantly ahead of the other group.

I'm not thinking that you're a fool, I just have little faith in the "general public" and its ability (or lack thereof) to follow established rules. I, personally, dislike open discussion of spoilers, and, perhaps even more so, poorly labeled, misleading, or even unlabeled spoiler tags. However, I don't have much confidence that a community-supported spoiler policy is going to work. I'm not against it, I just foresee problems, and perhaps new antagonism between those who do and those who don't.

I think, other than the normal lack of compliance to rules, the biggest problem is that those relying on fan-subbed versions do not necessarily know (or care) when the "official" broadcast takes place, or care if the version they watch is low quality (I am in this group).

If you figure out a suitable way to implement such a self-imposed spoiler policy, I will go along with it, out of common courtesy.

I refuse to follow a show purely through Pre-Air episodes, particularly if that show is produced by KyoAni or P.A. Works (i.e. since visual quality is a huge strength for these studios, imo).

For that reason, I likely won't be active here, and am now three episodes behind.

However, I will say that the first episode of this was very engaging and pretty interesting. It had a lot of common anime elements, but the way they came together felt fresh to me. Even in anime, it's not everyday that a girl is escorted from school by helicopter.

I really love the character designs, scenery, and overall visuals for this show. P.A. Works has knocked it out of the ballpark once again in that regard, imo. I also love the seiyu work, particularly the 30-plus year old bishi character who sounds very familiar to me.

Finally, I like how this show has a bit of supernatural edge to it, but it's not completely taken up with it like, say, Another was. Some of the school scenes were standard school scenes, and that complimented well the more flashy scenes.

Those following the preair could simply use the Spoil tag for example

Spoiler for Episode 2 Pre-aired version
Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?
till the mods/admins can come up with a better/proper solution for this.

Let me just say that the staff are considering what to do. We do understand the concern.

Those of us who have been around for a long time will probably remember "the good old days" ( ) when we would sometimes have to wait weeks or longer just to see a fansub for an anime episode. And back in those days, all the discussion still happened in one thread (excepting sub-forums). That was why we came up with the guideline that it was "considerate" to use spoiler tags for discussing the raws before the subs were released, even though we don't technically consider it a spoiler. We do infract people from time-to-time for being inconsiderate in this regard (particularly if they post some major plot event in the clear).

This "waiting for HD broadcast" thing isn't so unlike some other cases where a show airs censored and people wait for the AT-X broadcast. Or what used to happen ~6-7 years ago with certain shows that aired in 4:3 first, and then in 16:9 a few weeks later. I think there is no perfect solution.

Anyway, the staff are discussing it, and we'll let you know once a decision is made. For now, though, I'd just ask that everyone try to stay on-topic and discuss the show itself. I don't disagree with the idea, at least for now, that people watching the pre-airing stream episodes could be considerate and use spoiler tags, at least for the time-being until a final decision is reached.

(Note also: once the decision is made, this thread will probably be cleaned-up to remove these side-topic comments.)

A sub forum for pre-air discussion would probably work, but since this show doesn't have that option(or at least yet), probably leave the discussion in spoiler tag just for courteous reasons until something is figured out. Probably label it "Episode # Pre-Air" or something.

Spoiler for Episode 4 Pre-Air:

It's good to know the staff is thinking about it.

Back on topic then.

Episode two was a lot better than the first one. It made the direction of the show a bit clearer to me. The supernatural aspect is going to be more important than I thought it would be, which pleases greatly me since I find it a lot more interesting than the character drama at the moment. I really enjoyed the second half of the episode with its foreboding atmosphere.

We got some interesting revelations already. Izumiko is apparently the vessel for some sort of god. The final one. Very intriguing. She looked impressive and dignified in that outfit and with her hair down. Mesmerizing. A radical change from the usually meek and unremarkable Izumiko. The lack of those horrid glasses helped as well.

Miyuki was offered a way out of this by his father, but obviously, he will stay. Curious to find out his reasons. Pure curiosity could work, I suppose. Since it will be his decision this time, maybe he'll be less angsty and irritable.

Second episode brings more mystery... who EXACTLY is Yukimasa? Why was Izumiko afraid of him before he finished his chant? Are the mountain monks any more trustworthy than the other groups trying to control of Izumiko?

And it's kinda weird that Yukariko is avoiding Yukimasa, and yet they seem to be on the same 'side'. Bah, kinda wanted to know if they are to each other as Miyuki is to Izumiko.

But yeah, it looks like Wamiya is basically trouble with a capital tee.

Damn, so the new "couple" isn't a couple but a pair of twins. I had no idea what they were saying and through their interactions and nuances they seemed so "couply" and I thought that was so cute. Anyways, I really like how it's going.

i was interested in the series within the first 2 eps but now im definetely going to see the rest without fail. the intrigue with the spiritis/golems and what not will make for a very interesting series if they do it properly. it does seem similar to Another though it doesnt seem as dark atm. regardless if it gets darker or not, i want to find out the secret to the ghost phenomenon in the series.

so far the pacing of the plot is just perfect. i dont like it when it takes 5 pes just to get one answer yet just telling the gist of the series within 1 ep would be too rushed. if the current pace continues then the series whould turn out very well given the quality of the plot is good. i havent seen/read the series before the episodes aired.

I love the art in this anime. It's just simply beautiful.
Izumiko - Miyuki relationship seems to be improving slightly.
That girl and technology really don't like each other.
I was surprised she didn't crash that plane by accident ^^"
Interesting turn of events this time. It looks promising.

To be honest, I think Miyuki just wanted to stay because he felt left out. Or perhaps it was a reverse psychology. You know, kind of like, "well...what now?" I'm sure you're right and there's other factors at play too, but I wasn't really impressed with the show at all. On my interest scale, 2.5=boring, 5=interest (not boring, but not exciting or thought-provoking), 7.5=very interested, 10=completely enthralling, I'd rate it at a solid 5 if i had to plot out interest through the series

And here I thought I was being statistics-oriented by rating each anime episode and figuring out each anime's average episode enjoyment rating...you chart each episode on a graph!

Okay, the staff have decided to try creating the second thread for people waiting for the TV broadcast as an experiment in this one case. Since people have requested it, we want to give it a try and see how things go. Everyone is welcome to continue using this thread if they want, but people who want to limit the conversation ONLY to the TV broadcast schedule (or the official streams) can use the other thread.

For more information, please read the opening post of the other thread carefully. Please do not cross-post between the two threads. This thread will still be the primary thread, and post from the other thread may be merged here after the airing (TBD).

After the show is over, we may ask for feedback from everyone to see what they thought of this approach. Generally, we prefer not to split the audience, but we'll give it a try to see how it goes.
