Well, for the moment I couldn't do much about it, since I know next to no Japanese, but one scene stroke me quite a bit. When Madlax is fighting with her god mode on (^^), you can see her in two versions : the one in a white dress and the one in her classical outfit, who desintigrates herself, like a normal human being would do under this bullet shower.
I got the feeling that the Madlax in her normal outfit was Madlax's humanity and that each time Madlax uses her "power", she's losing a part of herself... which could explain why she looks so sad when she kills...

Just when I thought it couldn't be any more emotional than losing Vanessa, and even though we all really expected it after seeing last week's preview (and could see it coming all through the episode), losing Eleanor was still a huge blow.

It was done... just... so... beautifully! I'm still rather blurry-eyed right now over it.

I think what Mechazawa said about this being both the funniest and the saddest at the same time is absolutley spot-on.

Since I've covered the saddest moment, the funniest moment: Madlax solves the "where does she keep the extra clips" problem. That rocked!

The Rimelda duel, though... I guess you could call it the transistion between the two. From little bits of clothing coming off one bullet at a time, to a plea to always remember Madlax's existence. Still, the facial expressions made the entire scene.

Oh, and for those wondering who killed Eleanor, it was that gunshot wound to the back when she was at the cliff's edge running from the soldiers, which is why her back was all bloodstained at the end when Margaret came to. She lived long enough for that, at least.

Damn, my eyes are blurring up again.

But it in case, it was interesting to watch her make it to Margaret. Also, I have confession to make, I AM GLAD SHE'S DEAD!!!! The way smuggled Margaret was annoying and her character was annoying, so I am glad. Now all we have left is, Rimelda, Margaret, Madlax, Mr. Friday, and the mystery man on the phone talking to Madlax...My money is on Margaret and Madlax teaming up, but with this show, making assumptions just makes an "ass out of you"......

Lets hold a silent minute for the the death of Eleanor...

I have to admit that I never really enjoyed her character, she was rather *too* unselfish to be true all through the whole show, not to mention that she was wearing a apron in a country that by looks have a tropical climate...O_o Still, however, this last episode with her made up a lot for her character.

Why?

Why is a gifted person like Eleanor being a so entirely unselfish, devoted and proper maid beside such a , excuse me, blockhead as Margareth? In this last ep with her, we did get an answer. Eleanor was, as as the episode title said, devoted to Margareth, but surprisingly not honor-bound to continue her family tradition, nor as many shoujoai-fans may have and prefered, ravingly and desperately in love with her.

Eleanor simply loved and viewed Margareth as the only family she had left. It is not a passionate and romantic drama thing, it is however the loyal and steadfastily kind of love you only can have towards those who you recognize as your imidiate family. It is simplistic, but heartbreakingly beautiful. Truly an emotion worthy of a promise of being with someone forever.

This introspective touch upon her other way not-so-deep characterization lifted her tremendously. While her flowerfield-scene with Reticia was not as long and heartwrenching as Vanessa's, Eleanor's demise carried a meaning a whole lot heavier and thoughtworthy than ms. Rene's, and it sure as hell touched a nerve.

A family is not a concept most animes or their characters puts an emphasis on, Eleanor did however, how brief our realization of it may have been. Props to a lady, who knew what to prioritize.

May she rest in peace.

Ok...Rimelda must be next.......right? (a grudge? who, me?)

Certainly, that is a very sad scene. I hope Margaret woke up from Mr. Friday's spell because of that.

I guess at the end, Madlax should disappear when the truth has been found. Margaret will be the only one who survived in the whole series.
