Heard the full length version of "Hit in the USA" - it's twice as long as the OP version, and the last minute is just "i was made to hit in america" ad infinitum ... but still so fun! Dunno why this song just brings a silly grin to my face every time I hear it. It's even better with the opening animation sequence.

I'm really impressed with the animation, character design, direction, music, and...and...yeah, everything. Except the Engrish. I can tolerate it--I'm Chinese-American myself, and the English dialogue used in Beck is certainly better than my parents' English. But still, I can't help wishing (just a little) that the plot had involved some other foreign language, one that I can't understand, so I wouldn't be able to notice the accent or pronounciation mistakes. Anyway, that's a small issue and I don't think it will matter in the long run because there are already many other great things about this show.

This probably my favorite series right now. I find the EnGrish pretty funny. "WHAT? Who The F!@K are YOu?" |

When a show is being subbed, it's a pretty good bet there is a discussion about it in the Fansubs forum and that you can get a decent idea of what it's about in the first couple posts.
The first post in this case. http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=20172 |

If you were living in Japan, you wouldn't be complaining about the Engrish, since it's a lot better than anything you can hear in real life.
The only thing that annoyed me was that the normally decent Anime Empire butchered "Pankration", the Ancient Greek sport. |

Yeah, that bugged me also, but I suppose if you've never heard of Pankration and didn't know that it was a single word (rather than a two part name) it would be awfully hard to find on google to verify or check your guesswork. Fortunately this was a part of a background conversation that had no bearing on the story at all.
It annoys me, but I can't really be too upset with them for it.

If you lov' Beck, check this out too!
Black Heaven is another great anime to watch if you are into Beck. I got the whole collection after watching the first two episode of Black Heaven. The english dub is very well done, I have to say. Black Heaven is being sold by Pioneer

IMHO i am wondering why someone would prefer BECK in manga rather than anime?
Heck, i like the BECK anime more than the manga ( ive readed BECK manga till volume 19 ) So dont tell me that i dont know anything... in Anime i would hear them singing, that is great rather than in manga you cant even hear what they were singing and dont tell me using my imagination? ... i would really laugh my ass off. |
