Full Metal Panic would be my recommendation

You might also try Code Geas, although I didn't like it.

Seconding Full Metal Panic.

Also Kenshin, both the show and the Trust & Betrayal OVA.

Add in Black Lagoon and Samurai Champloo.

I'd suggest to give Zegapain a try. Good looking action, mechas, post-apocalyptic setting, good story and a little romance as cherry on the cake .
26 episodes - one of the not so widely popular shows done by Sunrise (they also brought you Cowboy Bebop and Gundam Seed...)

And I also second Full Metal Panic. Very enjoyable.

Nothing wrong liking SEED, it's the sequel that that was the problem...

Anyway, a lessor known but enjoyable mecha series in west would be Super Robot Taisen OG. There are 2 series: Divine Wars and The Inspector.

I'll also 2nd Full Metal Panic, totally worth a watch.

Break Blade - 6 glorious mecha OVA films of what is my favorite mecha series ever. Highly recommend this one.

Darker Than Black - Pretty good action series

Infinite Stratos - ....not actually sure I should recommend this cause it's not exactly great. It's a series I enjoyed myself but I think it's one thats hard to recommend to others cause it is rather meh.
It does have mecha of sorts and some decent action.

Heroic Age - Theres some mecha in this but they play a rather small part, it's more do with big ass Weapons of Mass Destruction Monsters causing Mass Destruction.

I'd say try out Beelzebub but it's very much more comedy action but for me it's better than Bleach.
If it's not your thing I'd then say maybe try out the manga instead, it's really got plenty of epic action and comedy moments. My 2nd favorite series atm.

Since you watched SEED, I'd say try out Gundam 00, thats pretty good.

Gurren Lagaan. If you love physics, don't think about it when watching.

My # mecha will always be Vandread and Vandread: The Second Second Stage (season two). I would even recommend buying the actual DVDs or rather get a copy of the highest quality. The visuals are EPIC, story is like no other, and...well it's just awesome! Lolz.

Gunparade March - You MIGHT be interested in the "other" one which was made two years later, Gunparade Orchestra; however, they follow totally different characters, but I believe the setting and plot is similar. I really liked Gunparade March because it was a mecha-action with a tinge of romance to it. I did NOT like Gunparade Orchestra whatsoever, I never even finished it. I thought it was pretty bad compared to March >_>.

I'll fourth Full Metal Panic for the same reason why I like Gunparade March.

Seconding Infinite Startos for the same reason as above lolz. Though, I think the romance or w/e is more pronounced in this series, but action is great nonetheless.
