The anime is really a sequel to the OVA because Mato and Yomi are in highschool.

Innocent Soul has barely scratched the surface... or is a very short manga series.

In any case, I'm still anticipating the series no matter how crappy Dead Master's chains look.

Innocent Soul correct.

The story there is more intriguing than the anime and it's pretty damn interesting concept, though it does have some Soul Eater vibes in it, but heck it's BRS and a giant cannon in your face lol. The anime good, but it lacking something to get people interested in it more.

Well Iam now guessing every media will indeed have a different universe storyline.

i am afraid what u afraid will 90% come true... the designs for BRS and DM changed a lot from the OVA, they know the demand is there

btw i think that trailer is not that bad

Can't say I'm fond of the uniform, Yomi/DM's new designs, but damn, BRS is looking ood with the hood there, the CG is awesome, and I just hope HanaKana's back.

If I had to choose the storyline, the game storyline would be more appropriate IMO (I also like BRS' game design and character more than the OAV version). I really didn't like the OAV back then, mostly due to the annoying jump cuts that were trying to "diversify" a somewhat standard storyline.
I'm still interested in the TV series though, despite the disappointing news about the OAV "storyline". The only thing that could change my mind would be a certain director doing it, and I really hope it's not the case, since Ordet's involved again.
DM design change seems to have spurred quite a controversy, but since I didn't really like the original, I think I'm in the minority that doesn't mind the change.

I'll only watch it for the yuri overtones and HanaKana (since it's based on the OVA, there's no reason they won't cast her again as Mato/BRS).

I've seen the PV. There is little chance the final product will look any better. Animating the battle in CG is a terrible idea in the first place anyway.

It's never a good practice to exclusively rely on promotional videos to judge a series. One reason is because they often include footage that gets cut out or is irrelevant to the series.

This is no Fate/Zero which has been blessed with animation from Ufotable like the PSP game.

Why not?

Especially with reliable people that working it. And especially with BRS warhammer-esque behind it (And I think they only using CG for the weapon anyway), the CG might actually good thing.

As someone who knows how difficult graphic design is, that's a rather insulting insinuation that somehow CGI doesn't require effort.

I also don't get the apprehension over the CGI here. It's clear that they're making it look good in action, and we don't have to worry about off-model characters or deformation despite the action. I'm all for quality 2D art, but CGI 3d Cell-shaded art is not an inherently terrible thing, and as with hand drawn 2D art is reliant on actual effort to pull off properly. You can get QUALITY (aka the bad version) with 2D hand-drawn art as you can with CGI.

I do like what I see of the CGI, and there was this one scene in the PV (the scene where BRS is falling amidst some rocks) where I couldn't even tell it was CGI until I replayed it. I'll be waiting to see how the final product goes, but CGI will not be one of my gripes about it unless the quality somehow degrades.
