And Issei is no where near in character of badass Mr T. of mahouka. So I see no point in comparing it. Issei is like a pure child of his desire while "him" is matured in lots of ways. Haru would obviously having hard time with KYH. Even if Haru knew KYH feelings towards him. He still thinks he in "unfit" and that's why he is doing everything he can to prove himself for her. Through burst link. Haru is still a child. A 13 kid who sticks his whole life in front of his pc or in this series his nerve gear. Dealing with 3D is different from 2D. It's a practical reaction. I think it will be out of character if Haru becomes all confident with just one win. Considering his past and considering the girl who likes him. He needs more confident boost.

Silver Crow's wings are a totally cool addition.
I'm glad Haru and Taku are getting along after that betrayal thing. Level up mistake Haru in a serious pinch. Chiyu is in on the secret now as well. Looks like the three of them just have to share everything lol The bodyguard girl was interesting, wonder how she's gonna help Haru.

What I don't understand is why is Haru not a level 2 already? He beat a level 2 and either drew or won against a level 4. Either this game has insane grinding requirements or you only level up solely on your win count and not who you fight against.

I don't see what Taku proved. He was athletic before Brain Burst - dodging books he knows are coming can't be that hard.

Plus, I guess a level 1 partner will net more points. Quote:

Remember that there are only 10 levels, that no players went above 9, and that there are precious few who even got that far. |

Anyway I have another question: What's the deal with Taku and the Blues? Are they punishing Taku because he lost or because he broke their rules? Do they know he plans to join KYH? If so why would don't they knock him out of Accel World? Why is he still asking for more time anyway? Is he just trying to use them? As for the episode It was alright and the plot is moving fairly well but there quite a few things that irked me. I didn't like how the story just completely skips over Taku and Haru confessing to Chiyu. That's the kinda thing we ought to be seeing. I also didn't like how those anonymous Burst Linkers were all chummy with Haru and Taku after they were beaten. I assumed that Accel World was a brutal "survival of the fittest" type of world. I suppose it still is but that kind of interaction is just a real mood killer. I can't say I like the interactions that much either. KYH being all tsundere just makes me roll my eyes for some reason and I would've liked to have seen more conflict from Chiyu's perspective about how she should deal with Haru and Taku. I also didn't like how Haru conveniently discovered his bodyguard, especially when I thought it was rather clever how she tricked Haru into typing his Burst Linker name to get his identity (who thought that he had avoided giving his identity away). There was a bit of lolworthy moment though, when Haru thought it wasn't very honourable beating the crap out of Taku in Accel World for points but not batting an eyelid at KYH backstabbing another Level 9. Not that it surprises me. You're not gonna be particularly concerned about some anonymous guy you don't even know but when it's your friend then it's an entirely different matter. I just thought they could've lampshaded that. I don't even know how Acceleration helps anyway. If you have enough reaction time to Accelerate then surely you have enough reaction time to dodge the book?

Aye, a game that only has ten experience levels would indeed require a great deal of grinding between every level. Games that have less experience levels than the standard 99 (ie Dragon Quest I with its 30 levels) are typically harder to gain levels in, and ten is an exceptionally low amount; can't recall any RPGs with a max level of 10.

Though I agree, the technology is the most interesting aspect of the show. Need more of it! |

IMO its just the points that are keeping everyone from advancing fast enough. Unless a player is absurdly skilled, people are going to stay around the 50% win/loss rate and advance very, very slowly due to the marginal influx of points. |

You get experience points from a win, and it's likely related somewhat to how much the other person loses. We know from Haru's first fight that a level 1 vs a level 1 resulted in him losing about 10 points. If winning against a level 1 results in the same gain, then it'd take a while to get to the 300 required points to level up. Even if it scales and he got 40 from beating Taku, he'd still be down a lot of points.

I noticed that Haru told Kuro that he was going to fight with Taku later. Then Kuro asks Taku to come visit her in the hospital, meaning she knows that Haru was lying to her, and she probably suspects Taku of something. Either that, or she is testing him to see if he deserves to join their 2 person "legion".
Another thing I have noticed. The avatar you get is the embodiment of your fears and despairs. However, it looks like your special ability is what your ideal you strive for in order to succeed. Silver Crow is the ability to fly so that he is above everyone else instead of everyone else looking down on him. Cyan Pile's long distance fighting attack is what he wanted to succeed in Kendo and fight well. Also, you can usually tell if a character is male or female by looking at the chest design of the Duel avatar. However, in Aqua Current's case, the figure is blurred, so you can't tell if it is a male or female. Oh how they want to screw with our minds. Btw, when is cute, cute red twin-tails going to arrive?
