I avoid writing summaries. I write summaries after the actual manuscript because I can't muster the will after the trick/twist has been revealed. Spoilers in character bios is okay because it's different from how the actual story would pan out and just provides one angle of how the event is seen.

Stress maybe?
For some odd reason, I kept on having a scene in my head where Eric is showing a part of his past to the Canon characters. And I kept on envisioning that part of Eric's past with this song playing in the background. Ought to give you a hint of what it's like. |

Not interrogation.
I'll say that Eric's gone "Blood Drunk" to say the least in that part in his past. That's the part I'm envisioning with that song playing in the background. Quote:
One thing I can say out of those matters is that I had to move... Again. I'll be catching some Zs, later guys. And StratoSpear, there's a tech idea that I want your input on. But it's going to have to wait... |

More like the most common variant is the Trainer model.
Counting their appearances in my work... Rise uses a tech demo/showroom model that is essentially a Kurogane that is painted red and performs 3 times better. Lt. Uesaka uses a model with the K/UTS (Urban Tactical Suite) installed -- an uparmored version that included a PDW carbine, a 20mm sawed-off and a launcher with 4 round magazine. And several JSDF units deployed for relief effort during the Christchurch Quake arc were Kuroganes.

Yep, another Char clone! But it's nice to see people incoporate real life event into fanfic.
Also, doesn't Kurogane trade its bus slots for equalizers and thrusters. Kind of reminds me the Gerbera Tetra. Now remember it, why we always have a spider-alike model in Tech-Suit animes? |

No... this time the limit is different. Instead of just being rendered unusable. When you hit the limit, the IS will force a shift. The shift also extends to the pilot... who is permanently bonded to the unit(shhh... they don't know that... yet.). Basically if they force another use out of the IS then they have to undergo forced evolution. 95% failure rate AKA mortality rate.

The idea is that the IS that have cosmic energy are themed as wishing upon stars. When you run out of stars to wish upon, it also signifies the death of your star. You either become a blackhole, or turn into a new star. Or something like that @_@

May I be reminded again as to what the IS has that stands it out from other exoskeleton/powered armor units? Most of its features like oversized guns, anti-grav flight, energy barriers can be replicated with standard, if not above-average, conventional technology.

Evolution. The IS has an AI that not only supports the secondary functions of any exo-armor. It allows the IS to undergo evolution on a scale that resembles bio-organic beings.
It starts out simple enough by making minute tuning adjustments but when those tiny adaptations can no longer suffice for the next step. A shift occurs under the impetuus of the core. It also provides a perpetual engine that has the output of a medium scale nuclear powerplant. The processing capability of a theoretical quantum computer all tucked into something the size of a marble. |
