AnimeSuki Population Fun Fact:

I was just lurking around Wikipedia this morning, and I found something interesting:

Population of AnimeSuki: 66,000

Population of The Bermuda Islands: 65,000

Well, I'm too lazy to verify/estimate what the population of Bermuda should be now...

So in effect, Animesuki outnumbers the population of a entire British overseas territory's population (at least in 2005).

That could have changed though....their mortality rate is:

8.53 deaths/1,000 live births (2005 est.)

Still, just goes to show what an awesome community dwells here.

That, and Animesuki is, unto itself, an entire country?

How many of the 66K are active and regular posters? Not to mention duplicate accounts/spambots etc etc. Still 1/2 of that total is an impressive amount

Well, technically, they're still alive, regardless of whether they are active or not. After all, some people don't even respond to the U.S. census.

Besides, there are only like 6,000 of us that are active, but how many of the 66,000 members are actually dead?

What I would say is : that's more than enough for a special anime gig. You know, like, frantic audience, stage divin', head bangin', pot smokin', etc...

Who said convention? Let's just dance and hit each other! OK?

What exactly does "active" mean? Does that mean they just logged on and looked around or did they really post around?

I would say it's nothing more than 1500 at most. Most of my forums I go too, except slickdeals.net, which has a crazy amount of users, are often used by really no one but the regulars.

My understanding of it is:

Any member that makes 'X' number of posts in an 'X' amount of time.

That's just a guess on my behalf, though. >_< !

Interesting. Next question would be from how many countries all the active members are from. Is somebody willing to read and summarize the millions of posts from the "Where are you from" and the introduction thread for us?

I don't know about vBulletin but on SMF and Invision boards, being "active" just means having logged in, not necessarily posting.

i think you would find that the death rate for AS is around 99% of the 66k...would be a pretty small army

HAte to say this but the AS Armed forces would be pretty pathetic. We have a lot minors, pacifists etc etc I'd be more concerned about accidental shootings if we gave AS members guns We'd need a couple of Gundams with armed with massive plothax to stand any chance of winning an invasion.
