I'd say if you're not interested in finding out the difference between the two seasons then just read the manga up till where season 1 ends and pick up the anime from there.
That's kinda disappointing. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the story (yet), I was mainly impressed by the visuals and BGM; if that wasn't up to par I guess I won't be bothering with it.

Thanks for the quick response.

to be honest, this is the only good arc, IMO.

You can think of the first season as introductory to the characters and the setting, but in terms of story telling there's a very big gap in quality from the first and second mainly because the story in the second is alot more compelling I guess- this is like the Soul Society (Bleach) or Chuunin Exam (Naruto) arc if you want a straight forward comparison... Or if you're old school- This Kyoto arc is like the Kyoto arc from Kenshin

P.S - These are the opinions of an Anime watcher, I never read the manga yet... But the end of this season might compel me.

Not really, this entire season has been great so you just hit a very big bullseye on the broad side of the barn that's all

Not so much as luck as it's just impossible to miss.

(I feel left out in this conversation... Need to find an Ava and Sig of a Light Novel to fit in... )

As a huge fan of the manga, I'd say the second season overall is great. You've already read 20 chapters, so another 27 more and you're set for this season, which starts with the first chapter (which was skipped in s1) and then picks right off after chapter 47, which is the end of s1.

I regard the entire season as 1 arc - Kyoto arc - divided into 3 sub-arcs: Preamble, Training, Showdown. So the entire season is good actually.

Season 1 was not that great...pretty average imo with a few good moments. If you're already acquainted with the tamazuki arc, start from S2.

Nice teamwork in this episode.
The action parts were pretty cool too.
Rikuo has certainly grown a lot.
Grandpa vs Hagoromo-Gitsune was pretty interesting.
Can't wait for next episode!!

Loved Tsurara's reaction when she found out Rikuo had done it with Zen, and doesn't mind doing it with anybody else. What a manslut!

episode 21 wasn't well directed

the build up is awkward and the music does not fit

what a shame. This was supposed to be one of the more interesting parts of the arc

I was more surprised by the revelation of who Nue is...

...I should have realized when they said he was an Onmyouji... Not to mention one that was born from a Fox demon... But I've always thought that character played the role of good guys

Well, he was a good guy, a BIT similar to Rikuo... until humans killed his mother that is...

Reminds me of Hao from Shaman King, roughly the same set up- They just used a different name.

Funny, I'm also reminded of another Anime, though this one is about Seimei no Mago

Rikuo: Tsurara. Yaranaika?
Tsurara: I humbly decline. Tell that to your homo friends.

Spoiler for Rikuo's fear is somewhat... interesting XD:

Spoiler for Tsuchigomo is quite funny with the irony:

It seems Kidoumaro can go Reality Marble with Rajomon Gate.

Rikuo sure had some problems with the psychic yokai.
Getting through all those troublesome yokai was a hard task.
The action parts were great this time!
