Hello,
I'm thinking of having a go at fansubbing hentai anime but I'd hate to fansub something that is already licensed... So, is there a site listing licensed hentai titles similarly to AOD's Grand High Licensing List? At least AOD doesn't seem to be listing them...

P.S. I don't think asking this is against the forum rules... If it is, please correct me.

Well I just did a quick search since I was interested myself. This site seems pretty good - their list is much bigger than animeondvd's and I see Bible Black, La Blue Girl, and other hentai titles in there:

honestly now. you dont even need a monkey to sub a hentai, maybe just the title and thats it. im sure people wouldnt mind how good the subber or pay much attention the the subtittles in anime. tee hee you cant really translate the grunts and moans

I actually have dug out my dictionary for a few hentai titles. A lot of them have rather bizarre and interesting situations/environments going on and also there are gems out there with heart felt relationships and a decent number with pretty funny stuff in them.

I'd probably watch if there wasn't any of that anyway, since I do like to relax that way and I do like to look at women more interesting than the boring ones I'm stuck dating in real life, but with translations you can have your cake and eat it too. ^^

Also there are a lot that will never strike the US licensors as mainstream and marketable enough to get officially brought over (and even if they did they would be damn expensive *ahem*). Getting a place in a hentai subbing group would ensure you get to see a lot of raws at least. ^^ Myself I spend almost all my "willing to translate" time playing the games, though (better artwork IMHO, you have the text down at the bottom to help, and just like hentai there are some really interesting/feeling/well drawn/fun ones out there - although maybe not all those traits at once).

It's amusing to see this discussion striking a spark... well, that seems to be case with most topics concerning hentai.

As Wandering A.I. and The Small One noted, there are hentai titles with a greater focus on story, characters, humor etc. (instead of plain porn) and those are the exceptional ones that might deserve to be fansubbed. I agree that majority of hentai anime (especially R1 releases) is rubbish, as they lack aforementioned elements.

Besides, this a small project I intend as a hands-on experience how a fansubbing process works. Hentai titles are usually neglected by fansubbing groups (the only ones I've seen, were a couple of HANBU releases I saw on eDonkey

), so by picking one those perhaps I could make a few people glad.

This discussion already going off topic and I didn't really think there would be a comprehensive list... Well, thanks again for the link Wandering A.I.

Well, in all honesty, I don't really mind if it's mostly just porn (unlike the titles I listed in my previous post) as long as it's good porn.

If anyone more people were to start subbing hentai it would be a dream for me. I feel that hentai is like the only genre neglected by anime fans and for no good reason either. I don't know if it's the fact that it contains sex that scares people off, but it shouldn't. Just as much violence is a part of nature so is sex.

I think the second most neglected would rolly be the yaoi/shounen-ai genre.
